It wont happen but would like the bench to be
Fanning for the experience
Cloke for the mongrel and extra forward option
Maxwell to go down back and free up johnson to go in the middle
Woewodin (hesitantly) to show experience.
Sorry Lonie wish i could fit you in but MM put obree in place of you. Much to mine and many more of us disgust.

Maxwell should play, as should Cam Cloke- he should have been picked last week to support Fanning. Drop O'bree, williams and woewodin is on his last chance. Put Johnno, Shaw and Burns in the middle- pace and hard at it, lica and cole can rotate in there as well, never let obree play in the middle again, he is to slow and has no effect on the game with his u turns and chipping kicks.
Can't blame tarrant or Rocca for last week, what chance did they have when we chip it around the middle of the ground all afternoon.
Tarrant has been at his best when he is allowed to go on big 80m leads, but he seems restricted to playing inside the forward 50 when he is played at full forward. Mick also said recently that tarrant is not a big man and that he is trying to preserve his career by avoiding him having opposition crashing into him. Isn't that more likely from full forward than when he is allowed to make long leads onto a flank?? Give him free reign and play him on a flank or out of the square, but just let him run.
Thats my 2 cents (also my first post)

good 1st up post, i have been saying play shaw and jonno in the middle this week too and without buckley burns should play middle. Lica will probs tag ricciouto. Again there is no way walker, cloke, maxwell, fanning will all play because that is just too much height and we need pace.
If you look at the adelaide forward line, i really cant see a need for presti. Id prefer to have maxwell in his place.
Clement of Welsh is a good matchup.
Wakelin on Perrie
Maxwell on whoever they shove up there.
The adelaide forward line is not tall enough to warrent us bringing in maxwell unfortunately so i doubt he will play. The same thing will happen that happened last week. Presti and Wakelin will be left without opponents or suitable matchups, mick will shove them forward. Adelaide will play a small forward line after what they saw last week.
It wont happen but id love to see maxwell in over Presti, Clement been given a free run through the middle along with Lonie.

Rocca definitely has not/will never have the capacity to ruck out a quarter, and it would prove extra stress on his already suspect ankles. Cam is my best bet as a backup option for the next month, as he has the agrro and mental attitude to succeed in the wild jungle of the AFL centre-bounces. His tougue wagging included! Fanning, I'm afriad, lacks the nous and fitness at this stage to ruck out the quarter, although he puts in a wholehearted effort. That will come with experiance. Tex is not a ruckman yet, and I doubt he ever will be. Do we wish Stunner was still playing for us?I like Rocca going into the ruck. I doubt he has the aerobic capacity to do it for long stretches though. Cam will definately play because he can play tall forward and ruck if necessary (who can ever forget that stuck out tongue last year?!) and Fanning deserves to go around again. With Walker at FF also capable of rucking, we've got a nice set of options.

As announced on Thursday, Collingwood skipper Nathan Buckley is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury, which will force him to miss the club's second round clash against Adelaide at Telstra Dome on Sunday.
Buckley, who missed seven matches last season with the injury, was also sidelined during the pre-season, due to a chronic scar-tissue problem in his hamstring.
But in some good news for the Magpies, exciting midfielder/forward Chris Egan, who is the nephew of former AFL players Phil Egan and Les Bamblett, has been named in the 25-man squad.
Julian Rowe comes straight into the starting 18, while Cameron Cloke and Nick Maxwell are a chance to play, after they were added to the extended bench.

No not stunner the guy that should be playing is Crowe he was killing them at Willi last year but was delisted for some unknown reason, If they were gonna get rid of stunner (which I do agree with) they had to keep Crowe, his development was miles in front of Fanning and IMO not that far behind Richards. Just another one has the ridiculous personel decisions made by MM in the off season

I wish people would start listening to me, players who are named in the starting 18 can no longer be dropped, only players on the I/C From. Which means Presti and Shaw are both going to play unless there is a late change due to injuryDaVe86 wrote:I've rethought my strategy. Id take presti out for this game, no need for too many talls up back, Bring in Maxwell and Cloke in his spot. Adelaide has a small forward line and will expose our tall slow backman as doggies did.

yer i no i was just naming the side i wanted. Sorry mate. Teams been named, Fanning isnt selected which has opened the door for Cloke. Also Maxwell didnt make selection. Williams kept his spot. Unfortunate for maxwell. Also Egan didnt get in.

Absolutely agree on Crow, and it's surprising he was not picked up by another club. Hopefully he doesn't give up and will work his way back through the VFL.Sultan of spin wrote: No not stunner the guy that should be playing is Crowe he was killing them at Willi last year but was delisted for some unknown reason, If they were gonna get rid of stunner (which I do agree with) they had to keep Crowe, his development was miles in front of Fanning and IMO not that far behind Richards. It's quite pathetic that they haven't included Maxwell after last week, as as been said it would give a lot more versatility for example releasing Clement for periods upfield (which is sorely needed), and they have to blood kids as much as possible, the side is looking a bit stale. I would have left FAnning in since he would probably have won the ruck well, would have given a big advantage to the team and boosted his confidence after it took a battering last week - poor player management, nothing new.
Anyway last week's debacle was largely a fitness issue as we were overran, so hopefully the team will run it out better this week and give us a chance. YOu have to wonder why they were not fit enough though. Could be argued I suppose that the Dogs have been overtrained and will fade later in the year.
In the long run though, it seems to me our forward play is too one-dimensional, predictable and brittle. For the same reason I doubt the Toast will be a serious threat this year - probably similar sort of coaches. Actually Freo is looking pretty ominous.

Good point. Crow was coming on well last season, then was surprisingly cut at the end. Looked ok against the ockers in round 19. Now playing at the Northern Bullants.Sultan of spin wrote:No not stunner the guy that should be playing is Crowe he was killing them at Willi last year but was delisted for some unknown reason, If they were gonna get rid of stunner (which I do agree with) they had to keep Crowe, his development was miles in front of Fanning and IMO not that far behind Richards.
