Yeah I am in a slump of a mood now. I would love to see Rowe play, Loved him pre season. Ummm yeah well it seemd everytime we got the ball. We stopped and kicked it backwards. Yet everytime dogs got the ball they had 5 players around it and ran it easy. Just seemed like they had more players on the feild. Not a good sign pies.
Im not gonna say anything yet. I think alot of people are being unfair, Its round1, Impossible to tell form really. It could of been an off game we wont know until next week.
Lets hope for the best and keep it together :D

I dunno Assassin, I think you are being overly pessimistic. Yeah, we were crap today, but perspective people.

its round 1. Lets wait a couple more weeks before we all write them off for the year!

Michael, Rocca S, Scotland, Schauble, Davis N - they must have a chuckle at the rabble we have become. Constant turnovers, can't hit a target, no targets, won't kick to the Roccca's and Tarrants. Maybe Cara should become skills coach. At least he showed some.

I just wish we could have played more direct. The tackling today was extremely poor. too many times dogs got past 2-3 players. Maybe more strength conditioning required. Speed, I dont thinks a problem, but when you get the player, for petes sake take him down. Its as if they had teflon jumpers on today. Will forget today, very disappointing. Must give Rowey .Cam, and maxwell a go next week.
Enjoy yourself. Its later than you think!

Dissapointing effort. I don't mind being beaten if we had a go.It looked like a few were not interested today. In saying this we are one game out of the 8. A question for mick is in the 2nd term we were running the ball quickly we got to a 30 point lead and then we the players thought this was going to be a cakewalk. We then looked like we wanted to play flashy football everyone wanted to receive the ball but not get it.The bulldogs clawed there way back into the game and won by 30 odd points thats a 10 goal turn around. As someone said in a previous post the best way to beat the flood is move the ball quick the mcg aint that small so there is still space,or say to the players if we can not get it foward quickly kick the ball long to chf and get numbers around the contest for a spillage.
-Every time i see taz kick for goal he swings it inwards left to right why can't you always aim for the left hand goal post? A nd is he really 100% as well?
-I reckon bucks has strained his hammy again on the tv he gave that impression, I hope the club can come out tommorow and say what his condition is not treat us like dickheads and say yeah he will play next week but pulls out before the game.
-Walker showed us a glimpes of what he can do with that goal it is time to stand up tex and do it regulary.
- I thought our line up was great on paper I am not jumping yet hopefully next week the effort will improve.
-Rhyce played well but needs to put a few in a row not be a tampon 1 in 4
- Williams shot outside 50 in one of the qtrs i said lets see if the wizard cup goal was a fluke and looked what happened.
- morison played ok
-Fanning for his first official game was honest
-leon goal of the year?
-Clement Tool of the week with that attemted kick to himself.

This is no excuse, but the other matches this round were not of high quality either. From all reports, the adelaide west coast game was a shocker. Winning team got only 11 goals. Another highly flooded match. It seems that Adelaide are in no better shape than us and hav a poor forward line, no talls and there best goal scorer is a small...welsh. It will be another highly flooded game next week, we will have to work something out this week.

What i would like to see is rheece been given the go on mcleod. We need someone with pace to run with him. Rheece played ok today, cant tackle and gave mitch hahn a goal, but he was honest and showed some class at times. A big test next week, if we loose, i mite loose my optimism which i have held throughout the pre season.

But in summary, it is round 1 and it seems all teams were down on skill. We were no worse than the saints, richmond, hawthorn, adelaide, carlton and kangaroos...doggies were better but not by much, essendon and pt.adelaide. Thats 8 teams tehre, which gives us a run for the 8 still. How the next 5 rounds will tell the story of the season without a ruck division. Every win is a bonus until a ruckman comes back to relieve Fanning who was admirable yet overawed today.

it has been said by some here that the swans offered us a first round choice for woewodin . is this true?? if so then it was a terrible choice not to take it .
we cannot afford to play too many of the same style of players in our side .
for example burns , licuria and woewodin is 1 too many in and under types . 1 has to go.. or be played in a different position . for example licuria could revert back to being a negative midfielder/tagger . but then the question has to be asked does that mean that there is 1 too many of holland , r.shaw and licuria.
1 of wakelin , presti has to go to make way for t . walker to become a running / rebounding chb . imagine that .. a bloke whose is big and strong (and scary ) who can run with the ball . it doesnt only have to be midfielders wh ocan run you know . have a look at michael / leppitsch for brisbane in the past . plenty of run and rebound there.
certain players need to be played elsewhere and told to play in a certain way . how often do you see lonie get the ball .. not run fast and then not kick long .. wtf!!
and certain players should never see first grade again .. williams , obree to name 2
my team for next week is
morrison... wakelin...maxwell
cole..........walker.....clement
rowe........lockyer.....lonie (run you idiot)
burns.......c.cloke.....caracella
king.........rocca.......tarrant
fanning....holland.....davis
licuria.....r.shaw....buckley....johnson

there is more chance of shane obree learning how to kick than that side lining up next week. You want pace yet put johnson and shaw on the bench. I think people are been a little to harsh on woey to be honest. He was far from our worst today.

Also you say that we have 1 too many in and under players. This may be true but i think mick rotates between them. Was very rare today to see woey, lica and burns all on at the one time. Presti also did some good things in defence today when mick played him there. Its too early to cut players like woewoedin, presti, licuria out of our starting 18. Give it to round 5 atleast.

That would be the dogs game plan. Have a very good look at the tape of the first 3 qtrs. Kept the dogs in the game going backwards and switching sides backwards.

Johnson #26 were u at the game today, u've been quiet. Will there be a match report, it will be an interesting one. If you were not at the game, i am happy to write a report, the last one i wrote seemed to be enjoyed. Otherwise im looking forward to an unbiased report which tackles some issues yet still addresses the match for what it was worth.

That was because everytime we got the ball nobody up front made an option. I saw Obree get the ball on the wing in the last quarter and he had a couple of bounces and then stopped and went backwards, and Collingwood supporters around me went nuts at him. Which was wrong as the bloke cannot kick more than 45 metres and there was no pies players in sight!

I found a few main reasons why we were poor

1- No hard enough, our tackling was woeful. That was the catlyst behind our 2 grand final appearances, our hard tackling!

2. Not enough leading, when a player did lead the pass was either crap or the Marking attempt was! If you noticed the Dogs marked alot of uncontested ball while leading while when we did there was always presure.

3- Coaching- Eade won the battle of the coaches by a mile! He used the Flooding tactic extreemly well and made us very aggrevated while MM played 2 of our best 3 defenders in our forward line when the game had to be won, and in the end the dogs scored 7 goals to nothing in the last quarter.

But its only round one, if you can remember 3 years ago we lost to Richmond by about the same scorline in round one and ended up 2 umpiring decisions away from the Cup. Malthouse will most probably be kicking himself for some of his decisions today but i think that is healthy!
I love Danny Allsopp, Danny Allsopp loves me!
