Nah look, in the end it was a bad game, win some loose some. The season is not over yet, we'll assess that at round 11 or 12. All is not lost just yet, however with fraser out for a while, today wouldve been a handy win with players still to come back in and many still unfit. In the end, it was bad coaching moves and inability to move the ball quickly which cost us. Malthouse played his players in bad positions and refused to play the young kids like maxwell rowe and cloke that in hindsight wouldve helped our cause.
Next round is a different story and if we win we will all be singing micks praises, in the mean time we should ask some questions as we need to fix some obvious problems. Still Go Pies.

Lets wait until next week, then if MM still puts players in weird positions, start critising him then

The problem whith that is, we will probably beat the Crows next week & everyone will be happy again until we get pumped by the Scum the following week.collingwood_caz wrote:Lets wait until next week, then if MM still puts players in weird positions, start critising him then

He played on Eagleton.
He was only on Cooney for short periods.
Shaw was the only guy who ran hard.
Johnno tried but struggled to hit targets in traffic.
Cole tried, was dragged before he could have any impact, and was not allowed in the middle.
Davis tried and was dragged just as he started to blow the game open.
Lokyer was dragged after he kicked 2 goals. Was put into the middle too late.
Our midfield choices were shocking. O'bree Wowey and Lica. The snail brigade.
If you are going to stick the heels into him, then I can assume you think the rest of the team did not turn up.

Coaching
MM was doing one of three things today:
1. Deliberately sabotaging our chance of winning by- putting our best players on the bench just when they were playing well, putting players out of position, not changing any tactics when we couldn't cope with the flood, kept slow players in the middle when we looked slow etc etc. or
2. MM can't actually see these things and will therefore keep doing the same things next week or
3. Has decided we can't go all the way this year, so is coaching for the future, not this season
Eade out coached him. We kept on with the same tactics even when our game was obviously breaking down. Do we have a plan B? Why can't we switch to a plan that takes risks and tries to move the ball straight down the middle. 3 qtr time would have been perfect. We were getting murdered and the writing was on the wall with the amount of times the Bulldogs were going into their 50. How MM thought things would change has got me. Were we just hoping by a fluke that we would win with same plan? Eventually they were going to kick straight.

perth magpie, if he is coaching for the future, then why play williams obree, shaw and try wakelin and presti up forward. You'd think a future driven coach would try rowe, clokes, maxwell etc. Cloke needed a go up forward today i wouldve thought.

Unfortunately, there will probably be another vacancy with an injured Bucks.Joel wrote:C2, Maxwell and Roww should all get a game next week. Drop Williams, O'Bree and another offender from this week.

COllingwood said after the game bucks is not injured. WHen he came off, they applied no iceing to his groin which would be the first port of call after a hamstring injury. It was pre ordained that he would only play 50% of the match and unless there are any further developments during the week, will play round 2, hopefully a little more than today.

post match
Whoever said that our midfield is too slow hit the nail on the head. Had nothing to do with Presti going to FF in the last quarter. The ball never got down to our forward line. Also those who criticize Fanning's performance in the second half may not realize that he spent almost the entire second half sitting on the bench.
Positives were the first up performances of Morrison and Cara.
Those calling for Ryce Shaw's head should nominate who they think should replace him. At least he has the pace to keep up with opposition midfielders. Now he has to learn to hit targets. Some players you just have to persevere with when you look at who your alternatives are.
Those who blame MM are right. Two years he had us competing in GF's and we pay the price of not being able to pick the cream of the draft talent for two years.

The Collingwood army is restless... there is a lot of upset and angry people looking for answers after todays game and are probably jamming the Pies websites looking for those answers.~Madness~ wrote:right!!!!! what the hell is going on with all these damn web sites...first i can't access the collingwood one...AFL and then this board has been down for yonks not to mention nicks site went down too...

I can't believe Malthouse blamed the loss on the player's failure to carry out his instructions. It smacks of his comments about Jason Cloke after the 2003 Grand Final.
He should stop hanging his players out to dry and be accountable for his coaching and game plan.
