WTF????
MM????
what is wrong with him.......?
when we got our run on in the 2nd qtr the doggies, flooded back as much as possible and slowed us down, when they got the run on in the last qtr what did MM do????
Wakelin and presti in the forward line?????
you know what if i didnt love collingwood so much i would actually laugh at it... i had bulldog supportes next to me laughing at it!!!! i wanted to cry
we must have one of the slowest midfields in the league.... but hey who started the last qtr on the bench.... COLE, last i checked he was one of the quicker players in our team, and he actually can tackle and bump! oh yeh davis was actually getting the ball out of the middle and showing and using his pace, so what does MM do..... Straight to the bench Leon!!!!! and also where was johno at the start of the last FULL BACK!!!!! why?????? because our backman where in the forward line!!!!! and i thought johno would have been in the middle considering how god damn SLOW we are....
I only hope wowey, obree, williams are gone by next week!!!!
Bring in Rowe, maxwell, clokes anyone but them....... they run on the same spot the whole game........
i have waited 5 mths for this!!!!!!!!
i'm sick of this shit!
Rocca cant mark anymore.... I think Tazza did ok, he had 2 players on him when they kicked it to him, and when he was free they didnt kick it to him... SMART footy team we are... all Tazza needs to do is learn how to kick...........
God i hope that this was just a one off.... but somehow i dont think it was!

Ok time to get seroius. I reckon i have been the biggest optimist in the pre season and have been very reluctant to judge early but there was 1 thing which hasnt been mentioned in this thread yet that has my blood boiling.
Let me set the scene. Collingwood in the lead by a kick giong into the last quarter, we have been in the lead for most of the day. Malthouse decides wakelin and prestigiacomo would move up forward into an already disfunctional forward line. As a result, doggies slam on 7 goals straight against a disfunctional collingwood backline. What was micks train of thought here. Our defence had held up well all day i thought until our best two defenders were taken out.
Another big malthouse decision was to rest rowe, cloke, maxwell and play williams, obree, shaw. Huge mistake. As good as shaw was, he missed some crucial tackles, the one that sticks out was against mitch hahn where he let him through for a goal. O'bree was disgraceful irrespective of the opening goal. He has no idea where to go when he gets it. Cloke may have been another option up forward. Williams was unable to be a threat. He would have also offered an option in the ruck when fanning was been belted.
A third mistake was the use of lonie. He is no good one on one. He is not a defender. Yet he didnt venture outside the back 50 all match. We needed lonie's footskills and ability to kick the ball over 50 metres as the dogs flooded. In the last quarter our key defenders were clement and Lonie. Cole missed most of the last quarter.
Time to ask questions about malthouse's thinking. However i will remain an optimist by saying it is too early to judge. However we need to find some direction and we must be able to clear it from the centre without fraser or richards rucking. Next week against adelaide is a crunch game. I hope malthouse gives rowe and c cloke a game. Williams and O'bree are past their use by date and shaw is hanging on by a thread. He did some good things today however.

No C2 was a definite selection clanger.
As for chris71 and your Woey comment re trading for pick 10, in hindsight that looks like another trading clanger. One of those 'tough' decisions that we are never able to make at the trade table for the overall betterment of the team.

That was a very hard game to watch for 2 reasons - (1) the pies were just terrible and (2) channel 10's camera work was abismall - couldn't see shit when the camera was panned out from behind the goals for half the game.
Criticism of Fanning is ludicrous - rookie listed ruckman still got some taps and made some space to receive a few disposals. Was played at FF for a fair bit of the second half. If you ask me Tex was absolutely shite in the ruck and the Dogs started dominating when he was on Darcy, by the time Fanning came back they had all the play.
Rhyce ran hard and did some nice things but is still prone to turnovers and cannot compete overhead when caught 1-1. Holland fought hard in the second half.
I think we were comprehensively outcoached. We had no gameplan, followed Eades lead with the flood, chipping and passing without skill or trying to run through the lines. Fair enough our list has deteriorated but only a couple of years ago we could slaughter a flood with hard running and long kicking.
I am glad we lost today because if we had of one with that gameplan and kept trying it each week I would probably stop watching the games. I feel sorry for Bulldogs supporters if that is they way they intend on staying competitive. And even sorryier for us lot if we have no imagination in our plans to beat it.
I would just like to see the coaches give the players a chance of learning to win contested ball in games by kicking long to position and running hard with numbers - we look like a team who is too scared to kick to 1-1 contest because we don't believe in our own ability and that can't be good.
Positives were Caracella and Morrison - good starts to their Pies careers, and also some of the youngsters who must get an opportunity after this pissweak effort.
Winning is not important this year - developing young players is and giving people a chance to actually play a position for significant parts of the season.

Doggies went with a small forward line so there was no-one for Presti and Wakes to match up on. So it was either sit them on the bench, or see how they do up forward as we were struggling there. Was probably worth a try but didnt work. By that stage, the dogs were already on a run so dont blame moving Presti and Wakes.

If we are not going to play the kids we draft - then FFS why bother at all!!
We looked old and slow - OB, Woey et al Why the hell not play Rowe, Maxwell, Brayden , Heath etc - other clubs play their kids and they develop - al la Cooney etc. Shit even Edon played Monfries and whilst he faded at least he got a taste of it
I would rather lose and at least know that there can be improvement in the future - can't see much improvement in this lot
Thought Fanning was OK in the first half then faded , Rhyce was good and Leon tried harder and for longer than I have seen in the past.
Bucks was only ever going to play 45 - 50% game time - that was predetermined before the game started - SOMEONE - ANYONE has to stand up and show some leadership!!!

I'm absolutely gutted. That was pathetic. A very ordinary side ran all over us. I thought we were supposed to be fitter this year. what a load of rubbish.
Davis - OK, but why did he start the last quarter on the bench??
Tarrant - veyr ordinary all day
Walker - OK, but he's not a ruckman
Lockyer - Ordinary
Rocca - Ordiary
Carracella - Good. Will be a handy pick up, unless we waste him.
Cole - OK
Wowey - Odinary
Holland - Ordinary
Morrison - Ordinary
Presti - OK when he was on.
Clement - not one of his better games
Wakelin - OK
Williams - delist him now so he cant get picked again.
Fanning - OK. Better be a quick learner
Shaw - good - one of our best.
Buckley - if this is what his future is, whats the point??
Lonie - Does he know where Point Gellibrand is??
O'Bree - See Lonie
Davis - OK, but why did he start the last quarter on the bench??

look dont rule out the season yet, take it round by round. This rounds performane was pittiful but a win next week will have everyone on the bandwagon again. In the end, it was an off day, we were not fast enough and we did not man up well at all. Some bad mistakes by mick i thought. We just gotta get our footskills more precise and make better decisions. Its early days and no team this round were good by foot. We just need to win a game or two in the next few round before josh comes back. We can pounce from there.
Yer n have i mentioned mick played presti n wakelin up forward in the last quarter and doggies kicked 7 goals.

Thinking
Did anyone else get tht feeling that Mick was putting out the feelers in the first game of the season to see who wants it, who's got it, and who can f*$k off back to the VFL for the rest of the year?
That was the impression I got considereing these two things:
a. watching as Buckley, Wakelin, Presti, Cole, and a heap of others spent a tonne of time on the bench.
and b. the selections in the first place with Williams, O'Bree, Davis and Shaw.
At least that is what I hope today was. He gave the 'seniors' and 24-28 bracket a chance to step up and claim there spot. Now they should be cut and not returned. Players such as O'bree and Williams for certain!
No improvement from these group of players after a whole season when they needed to step up, and then a whole other pre-season. Enough is enough.
Send them back to Willi and make them earn their spot.
I don't care if we pick the bottom 10 players on the park and rotate them through Willi every fckn week! We need to build a culture of excellence, not a culture whereby half the side does just enough to keep their fckn spot.
On another point- Rhyce Shaw - Did ok. Got a lot of the ball, but how many turnovers?? I have read that people think he did ok in the first half and some even believe he beat Cooney. Are you serious??
I was thinking that if I was Eade (or any other coach) I'd love Shaw to be the one CFC bloke getting that much of the ball, because HE'S JUST NOT DANGEROUS!. Turnovers galore, and even when he uses half decently, it's really not that dangerously.
Keep him in the side, he showed a lot of heart today, but skill level needs improvement. SOmeone take him and the rest of the side while they're at it and teach them how to kick.
And Rhyce, please learn to kick with your left foot. You are a professional footballer FFS!!

Dumb, Dumb, Dumb and Dumber....
What a disgraceful lack of effort. What a bloody joke. MM should not last the season with those selections and lack of tactics and coaching. Where the hell was Rowe, Cam Cloke, Maxwell and King???? Dumb match-ups and dumb coaching.
MM you are a joke! How and why you continually select Rhyce Shaw, Williams and O'Bree is beyond me. None of them should be playing AFL, they should all have been delisted last year. Give the young guys a go, at least they are keen and show some backbone. What are Lonie, Woewodin and Holland doing? Why does nobody tackle? Buckley looks injured, Rocca is unfit and Taz is disinterested. How did Fanning get a start over Cam Cloke????
Goodbye 2005 - what a joke.

MM has some coaching issues.
Today ranks along side his 2003 GF.
He went completely defensive in the middle, rotated too often and had too many slow players on ball.
Why was Leon benched when he was providing our only spark?
Cole/Shaw/Johnson should have been in our midfield for most the day.
Buckley should not have been played at 50%.
We are better than this. Today was clearly a failure of gameplan.
What's with people bashing Rocca/Taz? What the heck do you want them to do. Were you at the same game? The ball was lucky to get past the centre square cleanly.
Let's not stop there - bash Shaw too. Let's bash one of the few guys in the team that does not look stuck in cement. They must be the cause of all our problems.
