praccy match result v werribee, 24/03

Post by ramjet21 »

williamstown v werribee vfl praccy match just finished at a freezing whitten oval.

may have been a few points out but the 12 year old kids did a decent job up in the scoreboard and it showed a werribee win by 3 goals... 9.9 v 6.9 (apologies for not bothering to take note of goalkickers)

very scrappy game in cold and windy conditions. werribee look to have decent run through the middle while willy looked lost going forward with cam cloke the only option to half time and then almost nobody after that given cam was rested. usual suspects as best players for willy - lloyd and west etc. tallis was ok and a few kids im not familiar with threw themselves in. in fact, it was a lot of magpie listed players who made the bulk of the errors that became werribee goals.

re collingwood selection for monday;

cam cloke played the first half only and given 4 days to recover, could play. conditions did not suit him - other than one decent mark and shot on goal from 65m, he was ordinary.

jason cloke played the full game and was reasonable in defence although had trouble when pushed on to will minson (as all the williamstown backmen did - big will kicked 4...i think. at least 3 anyway).

matty lokan, julian rowe, heath shaw, dane swan...may have been a couple of others ive missed, all played virtually full matches and therefore can be effectively scrubbed off the team list submitted last night, leaving morrison, rhyce shaw, tex walker, maxwell (about the only magpie other than MM and his assistants looking on at the game today), david king and andy williams to fight for places on the pine.

didnt stick around for the ressies game - anyone with a result/details etc, please post. cheers

Not a great showing by any of the Collingwood Guys in the senior match. Some seemed to be playing for themselves. Lokan was probably the best. J Cloke did get beaten by Minson. Hall is showing some improvement and Morrison looked to be leading well from Full Forward but was not used often enough.

Of the Willy guys Smoker was great, West and Lloyd were servicable and Jarrad continues to impress.

The Reserves had a very convincing victory. Not sure of the scores but would say they won by over 10 goals.

Davies was good early as a Ruck Rover. Iacobucci and Rusling also played and contributed.

There seems to be plenty of depth at the Club and the likes of the Shaws may come under pressure to keep their spots in the senior team.
