The gap between us & the elite teams in terms of skill seems to have widdened again this year. I think we can safely pencil in another 12-16 ladder finish.

FFS it was a pre-season game played in conditions we are not going to see during the season and we were without Bucks, Tarks, Dids, BJ, Stretch, Tazza and Caracella who will all be first choice picks during the season. To determine we are going to finish in the bottom four from that is just plain ridiculous. I personally will reserve my judgement for when we start playing with our full list.

For mine it was disappointing to see some of the young kids clearly not ready to step up but the improvement in Rowe, Shaw and Maxwell along with the better showings from O'Bree, Presti, Licca and Lonie over last year are positive signs.

I agree even tho that was only wizz cup our effort was pathetic and i dont really see much to rave about with our kids....

With the injuries we r picking up already u wld have to say 12th would be optimistic for us this year..

Folks, relax! Tonight we played our most inexperienced team in ages against a team that was almost at full strength and will play finals this year. The eagles have the cyrrent brownlow medalist and arguably the best midfield in the competition. All in all considering the opposition and the conditions I think hat this hit out will do our young blokes the world of good. There are many positioves to take from tonight.
Rowe- Sensational but needs to work on his delivery by foot.
The shaws - one showed he deserved to be there the other showed that he might pressure for a senior spot this year.
Travis cloke - Really impressed despite being under the most pressure of any Collingwood recruit in recent history.
Fanning- So he dropped some marks. At leat he touched the ball and he can jump, when our midfield is solid his impact under the new ruck rule could be significant.
King- Did a lot of nice small things tonight, another putting pressure for a regular game.
Josh, Lica, and the backline boys- :)
o'bree and Williams- got the ball and didn't hurt us the other way. Williams could be a turning the corner as for o'bree one game does not make a season.
Egan- considering this kid didn't train much with the senior group in pre season i think we are jumping on his a little to soon (about 2 seasons too soon). Give him time to get use to the pace and the physical size. He will be ok. I think that equating him to Leon is a bit rough too, Leons had many chace to show he can play where as Egan's had one game.
Leonard - Looked ok in the minutes he was given would have liked to see him get more field time seeing as how the game was gone before half time.

u can always pick out individual player highlights but what i dont see is us playing as a team, no intensity, no run, yeh its early and season hasnt even started yet but i havent seen anything to indicate that we will be any better than last year, theres no hardness being displayed, no mass attack on the ball or the opposition with the ball, FFS lift your game Pies!!

Last year they beat us by 100 pts
This year, only 50.

We beat them at the Dome in the H & A.
Get back on top.

Bang welcome back to earth. Our second tier players are not up to it yet. If we have our Ist grade players out we will struggle. For a positive to come out of it it will show these second tier players we need more effort from them. Tiffany Cherry showed more than we did.

Cam yeh we beat the eagles in the H & A but they made the eight we did'nt

Shit performance agreed, but geez its a practice game and we had 6 or 7 of our best 22 out of the side. Its a loooong season folks there's no reason for panic stations yet.

The 'practise game' was all over in the first 15 minutes of the game,BUT at least it gave the up & comers a cahnce to strut their stuff....would have ben good to se the 'STARS' of tomorrow give the West Coast Handbags a fright and actually beat them.
I recon that the WA elections had more excitment than this game, even though MM gave alot of fellows a good run.
Would have been nice to win,BUT ....well you cant have it all your own way. :D :D :D :D

no side can bring in 7-8 young kids and expect to win against a genuine premiership contender.

We only need the ability to cover 3-4 injuries not 7-8.

My concern is that Buckley, Didak, Lokyer, Johnson, J.Cloke, Caracella and Tarrant will have limited match fitness come round one.

That's not going to be a good thing against a Bulldog team that will hit the ground running.

Not the end of the world as being predicted by some. But some obvious areas to work on in the next few weeks.
1. midfield shake up - lacked intensity and run. Bux, Did and Johno will help
2. unhealthy reliance on Rocca and Taz. One wonders where goals would come from if one of them is missing. Essentially, opp coaches will merely double team the other and play the percentages. No Tarrant, no Rocca, no win.
3. As usual our backline is the rock - Will continue to be impressive
4. Disposal by foot - ugly. Practice, practice, practice!!

Although Maxwell did well, dont forget he was playing on Sampi in the first half.

Can someone tell me what Woewy was doing all night?

Our forward set-up was terrible.

& it looks like we'll be stuffed without Richards.Fraser did well but remember Cox or Gardiner didnt ruck.

The only positives were Brodie Holland & R.Shaw & King did some nnice things
