Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse has thrown his support behind the recent changes to both the tribunal system and the centre bounce.

Speaking before Collingwood training at Optus Oval on Friday, Malthouse was a firm enthusiast of both changes, which have so far attracted divided opinion.

"I will certainly be advocating, certainly considering continuing on with the ten metre rule in the centre," Malthouse said.

"I've got three ruckmen in the club, and two of them now have got posterior damage, so to protect these young blokes, you've got to have rules that will see them get through into their thirties."

A very good start as neither team looked much to worry about. Although we might end up playing the mutts in the final & then in rd. 1 (with a little luck!) After we knock over Wet Toast then Port of course.

Tonight's Wizard Cup matches
February 26, 2005
http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/real ... 15835.html
WEST COAST v COLLINGWOOD
Marrara Oval, Darwin, 9.40pm

TV: Fox Footy, 9.30pm.

Radio: nil.

Umpires: Scott McLaren, Stuart Wenn, Derek Woodcock, Shane McInerney.

BETTING

Today: West Coast $1.28, Collingwood $3.30.

Wizard Cup: West Coast $5, Collingwood $15.

AFL premiership: West Coast $10, Collingwood $16.

FOR THE WINNER

A clash with either the Kangaroos or Port Adelaide next Friday night for a place in the grand final.

WHO SHOULD WE WATCH?

Collingwood: New boys Travis Cloke, former NBL player David Fanning, Chris Egan and Zane Leonard.

West Coast: Mitchell Morton, Mark LeCras and Michael Embley are all yet to play senior footy and could get a run.

WHY SHOULD WE WATCH?

The novelty value of a game at the Top End. The Magpies will be doing "specific gravity tests" on the players' urine as a way of monitoring heat stress, but it is not known whether they will be conducted on the boundary line.

THE SQUADS

West Coast: 1 Michael Gardiner, 3 Chris Judd, 4 Daniel Kerr, 5 Tyson Stenglein, 7 Chad Fletcher, 8 Jeremy Humm, 12 Mitchell Morton, 13 Josh Wooden, 14 Mark Seaby, 16 Damien Adkins, 17 Daniel Chick, 18 Rowan Jones, 19 Mark LeCras, 21 Quinten Lynch, 22 Beau Waters, 23 Darren Glass, 25 Daniel McConnell, 28 Ashley Sampi, 29 Ashley Hansen, 32 Andrew Embley, 35 Kasey Green, 37 Adam Selwood, 38 Brett Jones, 39 Adam Hunter, 40 Michael Embley, 41 Brent Staker, 44 David Wirrpunda, 48 Jaymie Graham.

Collingwood: 1 Leon Davis, 2 Shane Woewodin, 3 Ryan Lonie, 6 Brodie Holland, 7 Chad Morrison, 8 James Clement, 9 Julian Rowe, 11 Shane O'Bree, 12 Tristen Walker, 13 Richard Cole, 14 Shane Wakelin, 15 Chris Egan, 17 Scott Burns, 18 Paul Licuria, 19 Andrew Williams, 22 Rhyce Shaw, 23 Anthony Rocca, 25 Josh Fraser, 27 Nick Maxwell, 29 Matthew Lokan, 30 David King, 32 Travis Cloke, 33 Cameron Cloke, 35 Simon Prestigiacomo, 36 Dane Swan, 39 Heath Shaw, 44 Zane Leonard, 45 David Fanning.
Good to see the Dogs knocked over the Saints, who, if they won, were easily going to win the Cup. Pretty scrappy game, but solid win to the Dogs, who are up this season. They are a danger side all the same, vastly improved from their 2003/2004 form, and are much stronger, and look more potant with Grant up forward. They are danger in round one, and we MUST have Tarrant and Buckley playing and fit.

Yes the dogs do look more potent with grant up forward, hopefully the tribunal rubbs him out for the knock on hudgton and he is out round 1. However i did not think there was much in the bump, i thought it was more max's fault for foolishly backing into a pack in a pre season game. Grant had no option but to hit him, he could not hold up. Lets hope the tribunal does not think this way.
There's more to life than footy.........just not much more.
