Looks like all the games so far has been full of crappy skills to say the least. Having seen the Bulldog/Swans game upto half time and having read reports from Subi, I think so far we have played the best. The Bulldog/Swan game is worse than an under-11 game.

So this must be early season cobwebs. Surely they will improve with more game time.

I've watched the replay and if he didn't run close to 30 meters without bouncing the ball then 1 meter is no longer the same distance as 100cm.

It's saturday night in darwin at 9.40 with fox footy showing it live and exclusive. So unless you have fox footy you won't see the game.

Thought it was an exciting game overall, however I did think we were gone when Tambling kicked that last quarter goal, but well done to the boys for perserving. Always nice to win first up, and will give supporters and players some confidence about the season.
Just wish we would learn to kick - Tazza's kicking was a major disappointment, although he presented and marked well. Let's hope he is just getting over some minor niggles....
Loved: Rocca's goal, Leon's mark over Richo (what??!) and Coley's new boots!

Gez....last night I listened to AW and therefore made a fool of myself after they claimed we would go to Launceston next week.
Now our prez has steered me wrong. In fact, even our coach said Darwin. Check the tape.
Time to give this prediction game away.

I want a full match report of this game everyone, as I'll be at the Keith Urban concert that night!! :D:D:D:D

Anyways, I sat to the left of the Collingwood CS in the front row, and had an absolute ball and thought the game was awesome! I love messing with their minds making them think they are so good, and then beating them anyway, haha!

If you sat near me you must of thought I was crazy coz everytime Morrison got the ball I was like 'Go Jarr-Chad!' :P I miss Jarrod :(

I must say, I am very proud of myself, as I started quite a few Collingwood chants in my area in the last quarter. I've noticed the CS don't seem to cheer when we are down  so I started some in my area, and heaps joined in! Then when we started coming back our area went off, and I was like facing the people behind me trying to get them to join in! :D

The game was awesome, and it felt totally fantastic to be in winners circle once again! That summer break nearly kills me! lol! :D

GO PIES! WOOOOO 7 POINTS!! I love you Jarrod Molloy :)

Love always, Alyssa xoxo

I took quite a few positives out of the game.
1. The forward line despite some of the kicking for goal looks very potent. To be able to use the likes of Tarrant, Rocca, Walker, Fraser and C3 makes it a very hard forward line to match up on. I thought all the players actually led very well.
2. Leon Davis I thought played quite a good game. Yes he is going to make mistakes as that enigmatic type of player tends to do, but his second and third efforts were quite good.
3. Chad Morrison had a very good debut and showed what his experience will bring into the the team just through some of the poise that he had under pressure. This was especially the case in the last quarter.
4. The delivery into the forward line although not always spot on, at times was quite exceptional with players being hit on the chest many times.
5. Players like Johnson and Clement have showed that their form will not taper off this year.
6. Rowe is an exciting prospect and showed that he will continue to improve and become the very good player that I think he will become.
7. O'Bree, Lonie, Williams and Shaw I thought had resonable games which is a far cry from last season.
8. The team did not give in and continued to fight. These fighting qualities are what took us to 2 Grand Finals.

Negative:
1. Communication at times was crap. Many a times, two players were going for the same mark!
2. No crummers at the fall of the ball in the forward line especially.
3. No back Up many a times with players having to avoid 2-3 opponents.
4. General skills were poor at times but this was the case for both teams!

Some umpires probably count steps, others may look at distance covered.
Get back on top.

12 steps? What game we you watching, he took about 30 odd steps, he took very small and quick steps which makes counting them hard. The obvious fact he went to far is he went from the edge of the circle to CHF which is 20m plus another 5-10m to the F50. Umpires need to learn the basic dimensions of grounds so you can judge things like that much easier

It may have only been the Wizard Cup (and only Richmond that we beat) but I'll take the win any day.

It probably wasn't a great display of skills either but I was pleased to see the input of a few players who needed to improve this year, namely O'Bree, Williams for his supergoal, Rhyce for his superb effort in preventing an almost certain goal to Richmond, Lonie also played well and it was good to see Presti back.

Burnsy, Jimmy, Rocca, Licca and Fraser all did a great job as expected of them - pity about Tazza's inaccuracy.

It was great to be back in the Cheersquad - especially in the last 5 minutes of the game when we hit the front and were hoping the siren would go - it seemed like an awfully long quarter seeing that they are only supposed to be 17 1/2 minute quarters plus time on?

Hey J26 where were you sitting? I was in C Row.

It was important for us to win this game, even if it means we now have to travel to Darwin and play. We should be trying to win every game as we need to get back that winning mentality which we had a few years ago, along with the never say die attitude that we showed last night.

definite positives were: Morrison (played very well in his first pies game), Rocca (looks like he will improve on last year), Williams (best game since 2003) and Davis. Also good to see Rowe showing a lot of experience at times (apart from some of his kicking)
Negatives were Tarrant's kicking, the constant 50m penalties we gave away, Fraser struggled, and Richmond almost beat us. Hopefully that just means that Richmond will be better this year, and not that we're in for a repeat of last season.

Yes Roccs seems to be back. And I think we played a lot better than what we saw last year.

About the negatives ... inaccurate kicking YES I agree ... but we created more chances than what we did last year. If we can make over 100 in most games we should win most of them. 50m penalties ... most of them were harsh - and it was over umpired.

Yes Richmond almost beat us .. but didn't. Hawks almost beat the Saints. Don't think we should read a lot into that. We were good enough to come back and win, which is the more important thing.

Isn't it good that footy's back .. can't wait until next week.

TIME for a PRE-MATCH THREAD.

I guess that's right, it's always hard to read stuff into a pre-season cup game, but anyway it seems like most of them were treating it like a real match...... hopefully we do better in the real thing
