Maybe the worst disposal i've seen tonight since 1999.
Port ladies just strolled through the midfield in numbers, and our bludgers couldn't be bothered chasing them. Several senior players looking disinterested in proceedings tonight. At least Williams presented. But too little too late for him i fear. Seems Cole couldn't break the tackles tonight streaming out of defence.
No doubt J.Cloke will get 2 weeks for running into sack-of-shit Vozzo.
Don't bother trying the "eyes on the ball" defence, as it hasn't worked for you or any other Collingwood player sent up before to Kangaroo court.
And how the hell does a bloke who "did his shoulder" 6 days prior take 13 marks against Clement?
No Rocca, no Collingwood.
It's enough to make me wanna CHOKE... but instead, i'm off to kick some wheelie bins.
By Christ, we better beat that shit next week....

Bloody Disappointed

Post by drfranger »

First off you can see that having to move players into defence really drains our resources - every time it went into Port's 50 I groaned.

Collingwood are capable of playing so much better football. Their disposal was abysmal, Buckley is obviously injured or something and unfortunately there are a few playerswho should be moved on. It heartens me that we are the youngest side in the comp because some senior players have no real future - or should I say no O'Future?

They didn't communicate any hunger tonight - something I haven't said in a very lonjg time about a Collingwood side.

I'd say 'terrible effort', but the word 'effort' is simply inappropiate. Effort? What effort?

Why wasn't Bucks moved into the middle? - according to MM at the post match - "for the sake of Bucks and this football club - other players such as Holland, Dids, Leon, O'Bree etc must decide if they are going to accept the challenge or be peripheral players" "He was never going to moved into the middle not tonight or next week"

For me it was all over when they named Williams - hell next week we may get him and Kinnear

Leon looked disinterested - if he wants to gome home then make sure we get something for him - not like little tosser Nicky

He will go home and be a gun for them - BUT if his head and heart are not in it - no point perserving and hoping. We have gained from players wanting to return home so we MUST gain from this situation

With that effort Pies we were lucky not to be smacked by 80 odd points

What a long long long night

I disagree we need to find out who else can play in the middle besides bucks. it's not like winning the game would have made a difference to anything that matters. mick was rapped with julian rowes game. so another bonus I think. walker was good too I thought

I saw 2 things tonight Williams playing his last game of football for collingwood football club (hopefully anyway.) Also I saw port adelaide play the most boring football behind the sydney swans. If a teams gonna beat us at least add something to the highlight reel or something!

We seem to only beat Port Adelaide in the games that count.

You wouldnt know from last nights performance that the players were playing for their future.

Next week let McKee, Williams and Obree enjoy their last game in a Collingwood jumper.

Firstly Jason Cloke is not going anywhere, not since they signed the deal to have all three boys at the Club. You have to remember that this is the first year in 3 that we have not had either a stable forward line or backline Due to a shocking run of Injuries. It has exposed our depth this year, plain and simple but if we had not suffered the the string of injuries we would still be a top 4 side, no doubt. We have Debuted 10 players this year, I think Carlton are the Only other Club to have more, this has been a rebuilding year for the Pies. I personally think Leon wil be on the roster next year, unless we can get something good for him from Perth, he obviously loves home, but I think he is more suited to an on ball role...a genuine rover.

Another thing that we all seem to be forgetting is what effect last years GF may have had on the player list in general. It may take a club several years to bounce back from humiliation like that (look at the Dees).

I agree that the club needs to make changes, but it is not all doom and gloom as people seem to make out. Sure Port played boring football tonight, but they won the game, they stay on top of the ladder and they are playing finals football...you seriously believe that they are going to turn it on and go fully hard at the footy against an out of the 8 team like Collingwood? if they did they might risk injuries to key players before the finals. If Collingwood were in the same position as Port leading into this match, We would have played the same way....just get done what you need to.

I for one am looking Forward to a incident free pre-season where all of the boys can recover from injury, I look forward to a few changes, a few players will go, no doubt and I look forward to the rise of the mighty Collingwood in season 2005...

Cheers

Just to put a positive spin on things... Who else was impressed with young Rowey? his disposal was usually good, and he always seemed to be going hard at the packs. Whenever a pack was formed, he was always somewhere around it. 19 disposals wasn't too bad for a bloke playing only his 5th game. I'm sure he silenced even his toughest critics with that performance. It wasn't just Rowe i was impressed with though. I think all our kids can hang their heads up high and know that even though we lost, they gave it a red hot go. I'll be there next week to watch us beat Carlton. We just have to.

One game doesn't make a season/career. Of your list, Clokey and King are safe. I think also Rhyce Shaw may have escaped the axe for another season.

Onto the game, shocking performance. No heart at all, no run, indirect footy and no accountabillity. It was awful. It seemed as iuf we had no planning ofr the game at all. It really hurts when you see players as good as Roger James just running free. MM put to much time into Mahoney in my opinion. Ok, he is a solid player but no match winner. Take other players.

BEST: Woey, Lones, Frase and Rowey. Tex also showed a bit and we miss Bucks and Burnsy's drive and grunt plus a bit of class. Bucks seems fustrated by playing at half forward, and I hope that he returnes to the middle next season. People may not agree, but he definitly should.McGough was solid, his kicking has improved. His new action looks ok but may be hard to do on the run. Loved it how he gave it to Hardwick after he goaled. Thats the sort of stuff we need our kids doing - using a bit of cheek and backing it up. Now, if Goughy could really hit some bodies (within the rules) we may get somewhere. Lockyer was quiet, Johnson's kicking was generally poor but he improved - not enough to get our best player as voted by the Age. Lonie was good, he wonb more of the ball and scored three nice goals. He just hneeds to win a little more of it and get in and under. he has definitly saved his career. After two good weeks O'Bree was very disappointing. His final Magpie match could be coming up this week. Jimmy was pretty awful by his standards. Yes, he was injured and not the right man for the job but Cloke really should have got the job on Treadra. Speaking of Cloke, he was ok. He didn't win much of it but his hands and hardness are returning. Licca has had a few really quiet weeks and may need to return to half back to get into form - even tagging. Holland was quiet but he is consistant and one player to have gone on with it this season. Didak was VERY quiet, he really needs to do more. Davis was good, added some spark and seems to want the footy more then usural. I'd keep him for next season. Andy Williams seemed to really put in and try which I applaud him for doing and while he had a few nice touches and moments, but took his eyes off it and lacks confidence. Too little too late prehaps? Cople was solid again, and uses his dash well. Tarrant was very good leading up the field but would do better if he led down the middle. he was one one of the better defenders in the leauge (Matthew Bishop) and did well. Fraser was good, and a little unlucky on Brogan and Lade who are very goiod together. King was quiet, while Rowe showed some very promising signs.

All in all, a very very very poor performance.

One more thing, MM may be out of form as a coach. He has donem a great job but WHY didn't he put Bucks in there??? Bucks is fustrated on the forward flank and doesn't like it. You can see it in his body language. Back in the 1990's we might know a bit more about it. Please MM, play Bucks on the ball (he is a Brownlow Medallist.)

what a shocker!
we dont have the cattle and now is time to get it right before bucks is gone. Get rid of O'bree, williams, lokan, kinnear, r.shaw, for a start trade tarrant and davis get the kids in the gym we are braggen about our worlds best gym so use the thing. With those trades we should be able to get some decent players that can kick straight and to there own team. Why keep players that would not get a game with the other scum!!
have a shot!!
