Matthew Lloyd and James Hird = THE UNTOUCHABLES!

It was such a frustrating game...it was good to see however the Pies come back at one stage and put up a fight.
I thought Mc Gough did well when he got an opportunity and Jimmy being the freak he is played a great defensive game. There were a few good runs out from defensive into the forwards especially when Ritchie was involved.

However Essendon had too many free players forward of the ball and our boys just seemed to be chasing the whole night.

It has been a hard year :(

I loved they way ch.9 showed Malthouse shaking hands with the orange lumps of shit prior to the game. All he'd ask for is for fair and consistant decisions. "Yeah, no worrys Mick..." Not a chance.

I hope he washed the shit off his hands straight away.

take away the charity frees which converted to goals for the Dons and it was an even game.

Roll On 2005

Post by one eyed magpie »

Very simple and undeniable fact: You can't give a team a seven goal lead at Quarter Time and expect to win. We came close, but the effort of getting back was just too much.

At least now all the stupid talk about us being a "mathematical chance of making the finals" will stop. We haven't been a chance to make the finals for weeks.

I am looking forward to '05 though. All the young guys blooded this year must help our depth.

One bright spot was Coles pace and dash. He has grown into an excillent player this season with his run and courage and I can't wait until he is in his mid 20's! He will be one of the AFL's best.

Not a bad effort considering the injuries, suspensions & GF hangovers they've had to endure this year. It shows that there's a great base spirit amongst the list.
I agree with you that the team have shown great spirit this season. However we have lost 7 of our games by 30+ points. Although 5 goals is not a complete spanking, its not pretty either and doesn't give you a lot to hang your hat on for that game.

We've been pretty competitive against Port, Dees, Swans and Cats (all probable finalists) and there were good signs even in the biggest thrashings, like against Brisbane and Essendon (both times), and St.Kilda. Of course the Dockers one was our best win of the season. It's been a tough year, but there have been positives.

Essendon were playing brilliantly for a lot of Friday night, and we did well to come from 50 points down to be within 15 points halfway through the last quarter. We would have lost by 60-70 points a few years ago.

lone ranger you said if Buckley kicked more goals he would be the greatest ever, I actually think most of your posts are on the mark. This one I am quite amazed with. I appreciate his goal to point ratio is not the best, but he isn't a goal sneak he is a brilliant midfielder, back pocket Mr fix it whatever. Does he have to kick a bag of goals as well. We as Collinwood supporters cannot and and should not criticise Buckley even to the slightest degree. I can only hope he continues to play for years to come.

I have no hesitation in saying I am 100% inawe of the great man

I probably didnt make it clear what I was saying Surfer1 ... Bucks is without doubt one of the best of all time. Given his kicking ability, it can be argued that he should kick more goals. I am saying that if he kicked more goals, he would no longer be one of the best, he would elevate to be the greatest player in the history of the game.

It was embarrassing losing to that team. We made Hille look good. A sad sad night.

It is also embarrassing to think that Freo may make the finals by default.

I've been pro McGough all year, but how people can say he should have got more game time after his disposal at crucial times of the last quarter is beyond me. The reaction of players 20 meters away who should have been hit on the chest only to see the ball roll over the boundary line is all that needs to be seen to realise he has gotten worse over the year, not better.

Serious questions for McG, hope he can sort it out cos we need him.

We got smashed in the ruck, Hille played one of his better games. It was good to see Leon put 2 good games together he hasn't been able to do that for awhile. Hopefully he has turned the corner and next year could be his big year.
