What is wrong with Collingwood?
early in the last quarter when Collingwood led by 28 points, I was thinking 'I can just see this one turning out like the Carlton game'. It was excruciating watching Richmond continually missing sitters, while it seemed Collingwood weren't going to have a go until Richmond actually got in front. Great composure by Burns, Holland and King in that crucial piece of play.

Hard to say, Dave. Had Richmond showed sufficient composure they should have won this one.
Against Carlton, most of our team DID freeze and we blew it. With Melbourne, it was more that we ran out of gas. This match was somewhere between, possibly more the latter.
Our injury toll is hiiting us very hard and we are having to field some less than 100 pct fit players particularly down back.
It was a positive sign to see considerable composure from some of our first year players. Sadly, some with greater experience were lacking in that attribute.

we cant use the excuse that we ran out of gas in this game, we had 2 more fit players then richmond did.....so if any team were to run out of gas, it would be bitchmond.
Its a bit of a worry that we have had really bad 4th quarter efforts this season. I was most surprised at the reaction of our senior players when were losing the ascendency in the last quarter. They didnt even look like that cared. Thankfully, our younger brigade looked as if they did. It was quite surprising as we would expect the opposite. Even when we won, it looked as it meant more to the kids then to the senior blokes.
Im not knocking off our senior boys, they just seemed a little flat today.
It was great to see MM give alot of game time to some of our young blokes today. Even Shaw, who did turn it over alot today got, did not get dragged when he did make some skill errors. Good to see MM show some faith and its such a bonus that we were able to give them some experience, and win the game also.
Lets hope Taz is back next week.

P4P, there were soft free kicks in both directions, although I didn't notice any totally ridiculous Richmond frees. That one to neon on 3/4 time was pretty 50/50, as was the one to Woey in the last qtr. We've had some pretty bad games ump-wise this year, but I don't think that this was one of them.

Mr A's Reports - 'Richmond' Assignment due 31/7/04
Buckley, Nathan - B+ :Good clearances, some costly mistakes.
Burns, Scott - B- :When the Pies roll it's him making it happen.
Clement, James - B+ :Solid, couple of errors.
Cloke, Jason - D- :Got an semi-ovation for one of his spoils on Richo. Injured again?
Cole, Richard - B+ :Becoming very important. Chris Johnson with legs.
Davis, Leon - C :Lively, superb goal from 50 on boundary, 4th Q point from 35. *shrug*
Fraser, Joshua - C+ :Didn't give Ottens enough respect, not enough run
Holland, Brodie - A- :Great game. Ran ran ran. Two good goals.
Johnson, Benjamin - A- :Good run. Sensational goal from the boundary.
King, David - D+ :Little Dermie. Just needed the Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake Strut in the goalsquare.
Licuria, Paul - C :Solid but unspectacular game.
Lockyer, Tarkyn - C :Similar game to Lica. Lacked impact, but serviceable.
Lokan, Matthew - D :Showed a little of what is possible. Good disposal but needs goals.
Lonie, Ryan - C+ :I've seen the light, he can play HF. Getting more assertive by the week.
Maxwell, Nicholas - C :What's not to like about this kid. Can play, can think. Not your average cro-magnon backman.
McKee, Steven - D- :Stunner is starting to fade, unfortunately.
O'Bree, Shane - D :Got enough of the ball but... is feeling the closeness of the Reaper.
Rowe, Julian - E :Enough skill. Will grow. A keeper.
Shackleton, Luke -E :Burly, but maybe a bit on the Burlesque. Young.
Shaw, Rhyce - D :16 possies, but ball doesn't always mean testicle. *shrug*
Walker, Tristen - D+ :Willi has done him good. Give him 5 years and he'll be a good as Tredrea & Jakovich in his prime.
Woewodin, Shane - B+ :Liked his game alot. In and under, skilful, he has grown as a player and as a man.
