Great game from Shaw, i thought Lonie played well and Clement as always put in a good effort. We did well in the first half, were outclassed in the third quarter and didn't do to badly in the last quarter. Hopefully some of the youngsters are played next week when we face the Dogs.

poor conditioning + poor skills - finger has to be pointed to Mick

I still don't think we have recovered from being belted in last years Grand Final

I suppose all the bears supporters thought the maggots favoured us last night as we were first to the ball early in the contest and their drug cheats insisted in riding our blokes into the ground? Well, it works for them at the Gabba i suppose...
Why no McGough in those conditions? His disposal is certainly no worse than what we saw last night?
Wakes was magnificent on the no-talent shit Lynch.
Steve McKee take a bow.
They can engrave Clements name into the Copeland Trophy right now.
Oh, and wasn't Leppitsch just superb with no Tarrant out there?
And no longer a "mathmatical chance" eh? And i can't say i'm sorry either.

Mick's My Favourite wrote:Johno - as I mentioned 8 weeks ago. Rhyce Shaw is captian material. When many had written him off here, I went into bat for him. His uncle was a late developer and Rhyce has what it takes

Mick keep giving him a go
IMO he won't be a captian of Collingwood.

A) He doesn't have the personallity

B)He is not stable in the side yet.

I may be wrong, but...

Congratulations Rhyce Shaw on an awesome game.. you were by far the best Collingwood player on the ground.
He shouldn't have been dropped.. he stopped Judd and now Akermanis.
IMO he is a better tagger than Brodie Holland.

I was glad to see Mick making a few changes and trying Lonie up forward and giving Swan and Rowe more game time.
We haven't had the opportunity to play the younger players due to a good run with injuries and Finals Footy, and now we have the chance. I hope we get to see the likes of Shackleton, King and even Brayden Shaw get a game this season.

However when the game was there to be won, Brisbane ran all over us. We looked slow and I could not get over the amount of free players around the 50 metre arch for Brisbane.

Its frustrating and it hurts but looking at the postives and the development of Cameron Cloke, Shawry, Richards and Rowe the future is looking promising.
GO PIES!

Buckley's body language shows he has no interest and that's rubbing off on the team. Purely outclassed and lack of solid key position players is showing out. If Ant is injured he should not be playing.

Development of Shawry? He has been at the Club for 4 years and should be standing up.

Lets hope this year we do some agressive trading and actually get some good players.

Both sides had the majority of players that played in the last 2 grand finals so i don't think we can offer excuses. Either our players are down on form or the coaching staff has some problems with our list not being good enough. I thought when it was raining it was the best we have handled the ball all year, then as the rain stopped and the ground dried out a bit brisbane took over. Shawry played ok but i think the conditions helped him though see how he would have went if it was dry.

You know what I think Stoka35, I think we are using all this crap about Salary Caps and Brisbane being junkies as an excuse for our deficiences as a team. Quite simply, we are not good enough to beat Brisbane. A lot of supporters are going too far with this rubbish as they can't handle the fact that Brisbane do all the little things right for 4 quarters of a game.

Money does not guarantee success. Sydney have the exact same salary cap as Brisbane and have only made one Grand Final with it. I do accept that it helps, but you still have to pick the talent and give them the desire and hunger to want to succeed. At the end of the day, we have 22 players on the field like Brisbane and we also have the talent to beat them. We have proven that in the past. It's the will to win that makes the differemce!

As for all this stuff about Brisbane being junkies, they have done everything within the rules. Everything that they have done, has been available to all the other sides. We may want to be very careful about pointing the finger. Australia pointed the finger for years against other countries at the olympics, and guess what, three are pointing back at them right now! Be very careful Pies supporters, it may come back to bite us on the bum!

Bloody weather. Why didn't it rain all through the game. We would have flogged them.

Agree Spoljar.

Sick and tired reading this rubbish about Brisbane in here. Lions' fans must laugh their heads off if/when any read it.

Sore losers are poor losers.

It's a game. Enjoy it. :D
