Give 'em credit. They are running all over us in the last and my optimism proves unfounded. But it was based on Fraser winning the ruck and King looks to be BOG by the proverbial. If they'd kicked straight, they would have won by a mile. Geelong are the real deal and will challenge for a top Four spot. We just can't play out four quarters. Truth is, as many have been predicting, we'll probably finish out of the finals just outside of the Eight by a game or so.

Best: Clement, Lockyer, Johhno, Woey
Worth a mention: Dids, Presti, Bux, Cole
Rankings
Bucks: 6.5/10 "was pretty good, got too angry"
Burns: 4/10 "seem him play much better..injury??"
Clement: 8/10 "best on im my opinion, the general"

Holland: 4/10 "did a few nice hard things"
Johnson: 7/10 "good run, did the hard things, top job"
Licuria: 5/10 "did a few things, but more is expected from him"
Lockyer: 7.5/10 "slightly shaded by clement for best on, although he relies too much on others doing the hard stuff"
Lonie: 4/10 "not sighted much, another quiet game"
Maxwell: 4/10 "did a few good things, cant expect much from him though"
McKee: 2/10 "didnt get a real run, didnt make the most of it when he got a go"
Obree: 4/10 "used as an impact player, but had little impact"
Presti: 6.5/10 "did a great, tidy job, held his opponents"
Rocca: 1/10 "injury must be still present, because he was disastrous"
Rowe: 3/10 "Ok, disposal still very dissapointing for an AFL player"
Swan: 2/10 "not given a real go, just hacks the ball when he gets it"
Tarrant: 5/10: "ran alot, and provided options."
Wakelin: 6/10: "did a good job on opponents aswell"
Woewoden: 7/10: "having a great few weeks"

Such views would command respect, P4P, if you had been brave enough to voice them in the pre-match thread instead of only after the game. Maybe add your voice to an informed debate before the next game, eh? We're playing the premiership favourites; that should make it easier for you.

I heard a lot of Collingwood supporters basically saying that the umpires costed us the game. Although I agree that the umpiring towards us was terrible, what is of more concern to me is our disposal by foot.
We basically only have about 3 players that can consistently hit a target on the chest as required in AFL level. They are Buckley, Clement and Lockyer. What I am talking about here are players that can consistently kick a ball 40-50 metres, chest high and hit a leading forward on the chest. The rest of the players can only do it maybe 50% of the time, some even less.
One thing I have found is that our disposal at the Dome is a lot worse than at the G. Tonight it was shocking as it was against Adelaide and Fremantle. I am not so sure we play the Dome as well as some people think.

Your ratings on Rocca and Fraser are a bit harsh, maggies; Rocca was very well held by Scarlett, who has just about put every key forward in the league's scalp on to his belt and Fraser just couldn't match King at tapouts, although beat him on a number of occasions when he was able to get his spring working. Both presented themselves at the ball and made targets. They did what they could. I'd rate both of them 5's.
A view on the pre-match was that McKee is no longer up to rucking at this level and that's been plainly apparent the last two weeks. Last week it didn't matter but this week we needed someone to maintain the pressure on King all game and McKee couldn't do it. I think he'll drop back to Willi next week and Walker will step up. He's big, strong and hard at it and would be a better option that McKee.

Wrong. Fraser wasn't too bad.
In fact, the only times we even looked remotely competitive were when Fraser WAS in the ruck. The game slipped away very very quickly when McKee was moved in there. Of course, he was sent in there in the hope that King would fall asleep after jumping over the motionless lump a few times. But that didn't eventuate.
And that Leon/Fraser passage in the forward line was abysmal.
Mick, leave Fraser in the ruck. Please.

You are actually kidding here, aren't you? If Geelong had kicked straight, they would have easily beaten us. Our disposal was 2nd rate tonight.tazza2000 wrote:Played pretty good football tonight, despite not winning. Just shows that we can go one on one with what I see as a top 4 side.
We deserve to make the finals, but we won't. Bring On 2005
Who the hell have we beaten to make us so deserved to be in the top eight?
