Yeah, good point J26. McGough did play well against Geelong last time, I guess that should be taken into account.

Thats his problem, one good game 20 bad.

As much as we would all like he is not in the best 22 at Collingwood. Good/handy back-up.

MM does have a horses for courses policy.

Ie:
-Goughy vs Essendon
-Davis vs Port

Anyone else know players who fit into MM's catagorys of horses for courses?

Don't want to give to much away but MM has promised me a game next time we play Fitzroy or University, thinks I have the game to worry there players, but keep that on the quiet though we don't want them to have any advantages.

droche, I woudln't say that. He was getting the ball, when the rest of the midfield couldn't earlier in the year. If he improves his kicking, he will be a vital asset to our side.

Richards is out for a couple of weeks.

MCG should play this week due to his last game against the Cats.

If Richards' groin is still affected, then I have no hesitation in saying he shouldn't play. As droche says, we're developing depth now and that means there's no need to risk players.

MCG apparently played a super game for Willi at the weekend and I've long argued we need to consider only guys who are in top form at Willi for senior berths. If his performance is any guide, then he has at least earned the right to be considered.

An interesting performance at Willi was that of Rhyce Shaw who played on Travis Johnstone, who was used as a midfielder. We all recall Shawy's terrific performance against Chris Judd a few weeks ago. I said a few times now that I like the idea of Shawy in the middle as he's fast and has developed terrific disposal. He's a bloke who loves the Dome, so must be under consideration as well. In fact, I'd prefer Shawy to MCG.

[It looks to me that we are developing some bloody quick midfielders, as Brayden Shaw also seems to have put in a good performance at Willi.]

With Fraser having comprehensively beaten arguably the League's no 1 ruckman last week, and Richards developing nicely, I'd prefer to see us use quick midfielders as I see the likelihood of us starting to dominate the ruck/clearance in contrast to 2002/03. We should use our experienced guys in positions where they can capitalise on the work of the midfielders eg Bucks on the forward line.

Well if Collingwood want to make the finals this year this is a must win. They havn't beaten a good side all yr and now its time to step up. This will be a real test, forget about last week. A win this week will be better than 10 wins over hawthorn!!

Go Pies!!

Pies by 9 points.

If richards isn't fit then either walker or maxwell should come in for mckee who at the moment doesn't look up to afl standard. Fraser can be in the ruck most of the day with rocca or walker(if playing) relieving him. King for the cats still isn't 100% and they don't really have another tap ruckman, so we should win the ruck again this week.

Good point about McKee, grims; I also thought he looked out of it, however, we would need to make sure we had someone like Walker available if Fraser needed to be rested or moved into the forward line. We shouldn't take the risk of having to sacrifice Rocca by taking him from the forward line to play ruck. We did that earlier in the year and couldn't buy a goal. He's too important to our forward structure to move away.

I'd love to see Maxwell back but can't see a role for him in the backline right now. It has stabilised since Wakes recovered his form and needs to be given time to settle down into a cohesion approaching 2002/03, when it was our biggest strength.

Walker can play anywhere but not ruck! That GF performance still has me shaking.

I thought McKee did reasonable when he was on. You have to remember, the Cats have Steven King, so a backup ruckman might be vital. I'm not sure anyone but McKee would be up to that role atm.

for us to win

-shut down ling
-get scarlett out of his comfort zone by playing further up the field than full back
- hopefully rocca can get going the graham will be moved on to him and this will reduce geelongs scoring options
- limit kingsley supply
-limit ablett jnr
- collingwood prove to us that we can beat someone in the 8

MATCH UPS

licuria=ling
clement=kingsley
cole=ablett

If Mick believes in his horses for courses theory then I think presti should be given a rest this week. There aren't that many talls in the cats lineup (as far as I know don't think i've even watch the cats play this year). So maybe he could go and maxwell can come in? Also I think O'Bree could do with some time at willi that's only of course if there is a midfielder worth bringing in.
