So when is the latest clubs can delist players?
Can't get picked up by another before they're delisted!

ok, 52, 55, and 58. Who's on the board at those picks?
Lions and Dons may chew up picks on bids, so we could slip into the 40's too.
Where we looking guys?

Clubs will continue to delist players up until the draft. Some players already have new homes like Jack Martin at Geelong.
Hypothetically, a player without a contract could go to his current club anytime during trade period and say “ you know what, stuff you. I’m not playing for you again anyway and I’m signing with Collingwood “. In that instance and although the player has called the shots, it still requires the club to lodge the paperwork to say player X has been delisted. Then Collingwood just announce player X has signed a contract with us.
NORMALLY, it’s the club who calls the shots regarding any new contract and if the player isn’t offered a new contract, then the player is simply delisted and are free to sign on with whoever they want.

Re: Thinking ahead to 2024 draft...(and beyond)
So let’s see how the cookie crumbles post trade week.
The Pies have brought in Perryman and Houston whilst Noble and Richards + picks this year and next have departed. Either way it’s 2 out and 2 in and no change to list numbers.
Johnson and Fin Macrae didn’t find a trade if offered and so are listed players striving for a VFL jail breakout in 2025. No change to list numbers.
We lost Murphy and Carmichael but drafted Smit in the MSD.
And we’re leaving a Cat B open for Alex Condon.
Media reports today claim Leppa has committed to taking an experienced tall as a DFA. I don’t think he committed personally but said Membrey and Tomlinson are possible, more Membrey than Tomlinson perhaps at a stretch.
We have 2 list spots and 6 rookies to fill unless we delist any of the few remaining uncontracted players to match or open up additional spots for the draft and or SSP
Either way where does that leave us with Krueger, McInnes, Dean, Eyre, Sullivan, Bytel and Long.
By the sound of the Dan Houston promo on the CFC site today I’d say Sullivan is being recontracted.
I think Bytel and Long are in definite trouble given Harry and Dan’s landing.
One or both of Kreuger and McInnes could be relisted as a rookie to free up a second permanent list spot for the draft and or a DFA.

Good writeup ..Lion
A friend spoke to Paul Conners today who said we are seriously considering Membrey.
Nothing new, but he sensed some confidence there.

Gee Charlie your friend did well too to speak with Paul Connors today, he was a busy boy orchestrating all of that late trade magic for the cameras

Re: Thinking ahead to 2024 draft...(and beyond)
Its still a little unclear to me - is it possible to swap players for picks on draft night?
For instance, could we swap say Reef for one of those Tiges' picks on the night?

Picks yes, players no. That doesn't exist in our game.WhyPhilWhy? wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 10:31 am Its still a little unclear to me - is it possible to swap players for picks on draft night?

Re: Thinking ahead to 2024 draft...(and beyond)
Great work by them, some tough years ahead but IF they do it right they have a good road to success.
Re: Thinking ahead to 2024 draft...(and beyond)
In 10 years time… Only reason they have that draft hand is because a) they suck and b) all their remaining good players wanted to be elsewhere. I don’t ever want those two things to apply to us…
It's never as good/nor bad as it seems...

No mate they have 8 picks inside top 24
1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23, 24
They won’t use all these this year
They’ll likely use 1-6-10 and one of the later picks (23 or 24) and use 11-18 -20 and either 23 or 24 as trades to get into 2025 draft with extra picks
Likely north will come for 11-18 for there future 1st and maybe 3rd
They would be happy to package up 2 picks in the 20’s for something next year as well
Look for Suns to be active there
