The Noble deal shouldn’t be difficult
Craig Cameron (Suns list boss) said they had started conversations with us and pick #13 had been discussed but he said there’s been enquiries from other club about it
He went onto say there preference was to deal with clubs they are seeking to trade in players from first before looking at other options

I guess I'm thinking more "he is the next Howe", rather than chucking hin straight in. Howe will play 1 more year, so anyone drafted this November may not be ready for AFL footy for a while longer.LaurieHolden wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 11:47 am ^may well be a talent, but you can't replace a 10 year + player a with draftee when the need is immediate.
If we don't already have a replacement for Howe, it'll then need to come via a trade for a 100-game player.
But I mean, he could be the next Zach Reid or Nik Cox; a player that comes with high expectations but doesn't bring it.
He'll be a player I'd be keen on if I were a recruiter. I'll be interested to see when and where he goes.

I was thinking similar, especially if he follows in the footsteps of his brother. I haven’t given up on Jakob Ryan either. He’s built like Howe and has some tools. He just needs an uninterrupted season, so we can all have a decent look at him.

Yes I agree - his muscoskeletal build is clearly smaller than Howe's. He would be better on the wing rather than playing man-on-man where he's likely to get bullied.think positive wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 7:51 pmbuilt like Howe??? With his shirt off??? Pulease!
Chuffed to have seen 3 flag wins in my lifetime but still greedy for more.

Well actually looking at photos of the 2 they aren't quite as different as I first thought.

A name to watch? ~ Gabriel STUMPF ~
"NORTHERN Knights key forward (196cm) Gabriel Stumpf has lifted his stocks after achieving the top performance rating at this year’s National Draft Combine. The mobile tall finished with an overall score of 89.3 having notched the highest standing vertical jump (76cm), and fastest 20-metre sprint (2.815 seconds)."
"Stumpf’s 20m sprint was the fifth-quickest in Combine history."

Long before we make up any ground on a Houston trade, we will need # 13 from the Suns.
On its own, Noble + F 1 > #13 and #23 seems fair and also a desirable outcome for both parties.
What would be muddying the waters is Richmond’s request for #6 and # 23 in return for Rioli. While that seems overs for Rioli, as long as the Tigers continue to hold out for # 23, we probably won’t make any progress on the Noble trade, unless we accept # 29 instead.
Reckon the key to the Noble trade is now whoever blinks first on # 29, either the Tigers or Pies. Both players are in contract, so the parent clubs hold the power but there can only be one winner for # 23, the other will likely land # 29 or a combination of later picks as the steak knives.
It doesn’t help that the Suns will want Rioli more than they want Noble. Also, Richmond aren’t planning on much player activity coming in, so they can wait it out, while we need to get a wiggle on so we can chase a couple targets.

Re: Thinking ahead to 2024 draft...(and beyond)
So at this point our first pick looks likely to be 36. If Stumpf is around at this point I'm hoping the club takes him. At least he offers a point of difference and that deep into the draft it's all a crap shoot anyway.
