I wonder, did Madden get a goal assist for that mark and handball?
Haha nice work and great memories! I might add though that he started his career in 1974 and hence was well and truly finished by that gf and kicked around 600 snags playing mainly ruck and almost 400 games - something your god of thunder could only dream of

Yes with the Big O looking like missing the big dance, Grundy will be expected to deliver.

I'll look forward to reading this thread next Saturday night.

Dyso won’t make a difference who they pick if the Big O doesn’t get up
Anyone who understands anything about AFL will know Grundy was so badly disgraced Friday night Sydney would have already been having discussions about whether to play Lanhams and hope to break even in the ruck contests or bring in Mills play Heeney forward and use McLean as ruck.
Big O’s injury might be the saving moment for Grundy but the way Daniher went there’s no way he will beat even the Lions 4th or 5th rated ruck
Geelong had the luxury last night of being able to move Blivcas into the ruck or go back and play defence which they needed against the Lions
Sydney won’t have that luxury we all know Grundy doesn’t have a defensive bone in his body and is likely the worst mark of a man over 6ft5” to ever play the game.
Daniher will ruck then roll forward. Grundy will stand in the centre check his man bun check his make up and finger nail polish while Daniher kicks goals.
If the Lions mids can produce what they did in the second half they’ll win easy
Only upside will be Sydney will be in the market for a ruck and we might be able to get a high draft pick for Cox

Ladhams is a big chance. You were right to call for his inclusion throughout the season. His one game in 2024 was to give Thor a break in the lead up to September. It went well. Ladhams had 10 hit outs and 6 disposals and, after all, Port only snuck in by the barest of 112-point margins. I expect Longmire will have liked what he saw that day.

Again you twist the truth
Lanhams played a total on 16% game time so his stats should be measured against the time he was on the field
Just face facts that can’t be denied Grundy’s form has been hovering between poor and embarrassing for a few months
It was moment Cox absolutely sprayed him at half time in a match
It was shown on camera in the change rooms during the break
It’s the same when he was at Collingwood he’s uncoachable same as when he was at Melbourne uncoachable
There’s a clear pattern he’s a individual playing a team game

Well the Brownlow showed clearly how important Grundy was to Sydney’s season
He polled a massive 1 vote
But I know your response will be the umpires don’t give votes to ruckmen
Well 11 rucks got votes across the season including Marshall with 16 votes (no wonder Sydney went after him so hard) and Gawn with 13 votes (not unexpected he’s at least 13 times the better player than Grundy is or ever has been) there’s also another 5 ruckmen who polled more than 1 vote
So Grundy rightly finished the 11th best ruck for the season (which is seriously wrong considering Cameron didn’t poll a single vote for the year and he is clearly a way better player than Grundy)

^ I know you don't actually believe the rubbish you write in this thread. Nevertheless, it has to be observed that the two coaches (including the one that sacked him last year) gave him and Heeney each 9 votes in the Melbourne game - but the umpires - who, of course, know better - gave the votes to three other players. All you need to know about the Brownlow Medal is that the people who vote in it actually know nothing useful about the game.

Not everyone takes the same view as you and the umpires, of course - here's today's lead article on the AFL site: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1228357/foo ... with-footy

Of course, I'm as bad a judge as the coaches - this was my post in this thread after I watched that game:
Pies4shaw wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 10:46 pm It's a bit quiet in this thread tonight after he likely took the 3 Brownlow votes for demolishing Gawn in a game for actual premiership points.
As we now know, demolishing Gawn (as usual) and getting the nod of approval from both coaches counts for nothing with the people who give the votes. :? :? :? :? :?

Darcy Cameron is going to finish top 10 in the Copeland, at least (and likely much higher) and, as you rightly observe, he didn't get a vote. Apart from that I don't know what referring to Brownlow votes could possibly convey.

That article smacked of a player desperate to try and convince his club he still has some value.
Interesting he spent GF day in a class room. He would be the only player in the game who wasn’t interested in the games biggest day

Well obviously umpires don’t always get it right but neither do coaches
There was 6 games where Cripps polled 6 or less coaches votes (including 2 games of 0 coaches votes and 1 game of 2 coaches votes) but he received votes from the umpires of 2 or more Brownlow votes. So who was wrong the coaches or the umpires
In the case of the Grundy votes he got precisely the amount of votes that truly represented his value to the team

But at least the GF has be leveled to some degree. Grundy will finally get to compete on an equal footing with another VFL ruck. He shouldn’t have any sleepless nights leading into the GF now that the Big O has been ruled out. He would have been waking in a cold sweat remembering how the Big O demolished him and embarrassed him in there last meeting
Forte may not bear Grundy at every ruck contest but he’s mobile and gets back well in helping defence and csn get forward and kick goals both of which Grundy can’t do

Can't wait to come back in here tomorrow.

Will Grundy be a premiership player or not?

A lot of chokers at the Swans. Grundy is about their only contributor. What sort of team gets to a Grand Final on the back of an allegedly “gun” midfield and leaves the ruckman to lead the disposals, as well as do all the heavy lifting? Physically hammered Rayner, taken contested marks, dominated the ruck but has had no help at all.

Goodwin has nothing to laugh about. He’s about as useless as Longmire - he is one of two poor coaches in the decade to have the luck of playing a Grand Final against a team with Treloar in it.

Meanwhile, Grundy can at least hold his head up - he is about the only Swan who won his position all day. Team full of soft chokers, apart from him.
