I gave Cameron 1 vote for a couple of games, and Sidey 1 vote for at least one game I think but can’t remember which one. Not for getting 40 possessions — I’m a “it’s quality, not “quantity” person. There were quite a few games where players had a big quarter that turned the match. De Goey actually got a couple of 3 votes for these games where he didn’t rack up the stats but he had one big quarter of play that turned the game and won it for us.Lone Ranger wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 3:38 pm I had Nick on 39 votes so pretty close. Who would have thought that wouldnt be enough to win.
I didnt manage to find any votes for Cameron or Sidebottom.

^ We all know the League is as corrupt as the Mafia, obviously a leak, has to be, this was pointed out to me by my sis in law too, it stinks like a 3 day old fish left in the fridge.

Re: Brownlow Count.
The problem isn’t the counting or the leaking or corruption. The umpires just get it wrong consistently. It is not, in any event, the way to judge your entire League’s MVP - you do that at the end of the year looking at the whole body of work, not by giving equal weight to good games against Richmond and against Sydney and then tallying them up week by week.
The players who should have won Brownlows and didn’t are mostly the actual all-time greats of the game. Does anyone seriously think Matthews and Bartlett and Pendlebury shouldn’t have received an award that Tony Liberatore and Shane Woewoeful did get?
I don’t really think there’s room for a “best in comp” player accolade that goes to someone who doesn’t perform in September or doesn’t even get there. They don’t give coach of the year to the coach of a team that doesn’t impress at the business end, so why do they do it with players?

So our premiership last year was rigged?

Re: Brownlow Count.
I wonder how the four umpires work out the votes. Does the loudest most assertive umpire win the discussion? Is it a majority decision? Or does "the senior umpire" make the decision? It would be interesting to know.

No Luarie I much prefer a good fantasy like how the AFL is a competently and honestly run organization focused on the good of the competition.LaurieHolden wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 6:40 am You lot must also love shows on UFO's, Bigfoot & The Loch Ness Monster.

Re: Brownlow Count.
A major sponsor is a big betting agency.
Players get rubbed out for even walking into a betting shop.
The AFL climbs into bed with one and allows betting ads on football.
No major sport elsewhere would be allowed to get away with it.
