Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player movements
^Pretty normal practice for this time of year. They'll re-rookie / contract depending on how their trading goes. Hopefully we're not dumb enough to trade all three...

Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player movements
Tom Morris @SEN reporting Port Adelaide appears to have defeated Adelaide in the race for Jack Lukosius with a 6-year deal.
Now, that might just unlock the intra-Club trade between Port (who only have pick #36) > Suns > Pies and get us back into this draft / trade period.
Houston remains a key cog in that trade mix. “I think in Dan Houston's case, he's got four years remaining on a deal … so Port have set a high price of two first rounders.
Harry Perryman (GWS)
“We wait on Harry Perryman as well.
“Collingwood have come very late for him.
“We know that Port are keen and they've been keen probably for the longest.”

Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player movements
Maybe we are doing a lot of work under the radar:
Harry Perryman (187cms and 86kg) midfield/backman - Free Agent- cost us nothing
Jake Stringer- (192cm, 92kg) mid/forward- Essendon very keen to offload
Joe Richards to Port Adelaide for Pick 37
Noble and Picks 33, 37 & 51 to Gold Coast for Pick 12 and Pick 26
Future First Rounder to Freo for Pick 16
Picks 48, for Mitch Lewis (Hawks) (199cm and 102kg) full forward.
Trade ONE of Kreuger, Macrae or McInnes for future second rounder- Trade Dean for a future 3rd (McGuane points)
Collingwood LOSE- Joe Richards, John Noble, Picks 33,37, 48, 51 (and 2025 First rounder)
Collingwood GAIN- Harry Perryman, Jake Stringer, Mitch Lewis and Picks: 12, 16, 26,
Get two tall key position players and the best mid available from this year's draft
** sneaky rumour- Cam Rayner (187cms & 93kgs) is likely to come to Collingwood as a Free Agent at the end of 2025 season.- whisper from a mate in Brisbane who is well-connected at the club.

Perryman lacks the height to play that role imho
Chuffed to have seen 3 flag wins in my lifetime but still greedy for more.

Is Parfitt a go or not? Many are going to say hard pass, but we need to scope the delisted player market this year.
He is a tackling pressure type player. Just 9 games this year, but 10 tackles in 3 of those. Was subbed in and out a lot in the last 2 years. 26yo, 180cm, inside mid. It's his run down and tackling that is his best attribute. His clearance work is ok. Has a history of nagging injuries; mainly hamstring.

Geelong are generally shrewd in the present day so taking a discard of theirs is contentious if you are seriously wishing to contend for the flag. Maybe put him on the rookie list if he qualifies?

Ya really reckon Hawks would take that offer? I don't.warburton lad wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 11:34 am ...

Dean, Kreuger and McInnes reported as untradeable, i.e. they've not been delisted but were told by the Pies that they're on hold till the end of trade period. As media say, no club will trade for them, 'cos they know they might get them free as delisted players.
Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player movements
Well, even if interested, offering anything is offering overs if there's a good chance they'll be delisted.
And this after Mark Keane turned us down to re-sign with Adelaide. Sheesh!

Looks like the club thinks the same. (IIRC Dean didn't play that day. Keane concussed McInnes. Also fell over to allow JdG the match-winning mark and goal.)K wrote:I fear the Dean vs. Keane comparison won't make Pies fans happy.
Sheesh... We put in all the devo work, and the oppo get all the rewards.

Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player movements
I wonder how Taranto and Hopper are feeling after leaving GWS for Richmond? Both are contracted there until the end of 2029. (Tigs gave up pick 12 and 19 to get Tim. And they gave up a future first and pick 31 for Hopper. In that same trade period, we snagged Bobby Hill in exchange for a future second-round pick).
Could Richmond be interested in giving up Taranto? Does Taranto want to play finals, or is he happy to play at a club that's looking at some years down the bottom?

According to a very good PIesman on Utube, really knows his oats, Joe Richards has been offered the same contract deal by us, as Port offered, so he should be staying a Magpie. Just saying.

Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player movements
Has anyone heard whether Peatling has agreed to the GWS deal ?
I know they increased there offer by a year and a few dollars but it was well short of our offer (and apparently a couple other Melbourne based clubs offers)
I would have thought that now they’ve been eliminated he would have either agreed or said he’s seeking a trade elsewhere

Well one thing might then result if Port are playing hardball on Houston. While we currently hold a weak hand, it'll assist us retaining a seat at the negotiation trade table.Piesnchess wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 10:23 pm According to a very good PIesman on Utube, really knows his oats, Joe Richards has been offered the same contract deal by us, as Port offered, so he should be staying a Magpie.
