Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player movements
I'll take pick 12, but I doubt it will be offered.
We have a chance :
Pick 20 and Pick 26, for Noble and pick 32
or :
Pick 26 and 34 for Noble and pick 48

^If we get Perryman then Parker will be relegated to the reserves. 186cm back flanker who is above average at 1v1 contests. Disposal Efficiency is lower than Noble, but yeah better at 1v1s.
I've been looking at N.Murphy's stats to see what we've been missing. His stats that stand out in 2023 are spoils (15th overall) and intercept marks (30th overall) for players that played at least 12 games.
Frampton this year has been 11th overall in spoils and not in the top 50 for intercept marks. Darcy Moore has dropped from 4th overall in intercept marks to 26th this year, and 10th in spoils to #1 this year.
So yeah, I'd think lacking an aerialist (spoils and intercept marking) is what's effecting our current game plan. Howe is surprisingly not that great in this area for the last two years. Not certain who we'd trade in that could be pigeonholed into this role ~ though Weitering is an unrestricted free agent next year...maybe with 3-6 of our veterans retiring at the end of next year we will be in a position to bag a big fish? He is still only 26. Bugger, just read that Carlton is putting up a 6yr extension to ensure he doesn't walk next year.

Are we any chance at all to get Bailey Smith?
A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned!
Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player movements
If we move the entire club to Geelong and rort the salary cap through Smith’s “business interests”

Most likely that the majority here will think that they are too old to be added to our list.

The madness continues ~ Mac Andrew signs possible 9yr 12m contract
Gotta say I'm glad we didn't get involved in this one. Yes, great highlights, "amazing potential", but seriously...wtf. We don't even know what he is yet ~ fwd, ruck, def? All because he won a game for them against Essendope?
https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/09/11/ ... extension/
Anyway, wondering if this effects Noble trade in any way? Maybe they have some other player/s that might be getting pushed out?

Haters said the same thing about Dunn and Roughey.
Taberner is a Vic boy, will cost us nothing and give Dean more time until we land a young KB as a priority in the next couple of years.

I believe Taberner's back is stuffed. Couldn't stay on the park. So probably no thanks.

Let’s just land Weitering or Lobb then …
Dreaming.

Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player movements
I’d suggest pick 12 is a genuine possibility with the Suns, simply because we have something they want, Johnny Noble. We would need to give up more on top of Noble but we have plenty of options to satisfy the secondary part of that deal.Take_a_Screamer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2024 4:23 pmYes pick 12...
Magpies’ reported asking price for John Noble could unlock monster trade.
With the NGA bid for Lombard expected to come in the early teens, the Suns would be looking to trade out their pick 12 anyway. The Suns will also look to plan for the 2025 draft as part of this years strategy, so it might be our futures form part of any conversation that includes pick 12.
Ultimately, any Noble trade that includes their pick 12 is our best outcome, while any trade that would include their pick 20, draws closer to a “ straight swap “ outcome.
What we do with that pick is another conversation but the key is to get that deal done quickly, so we can then go forward during the trade period with a much improved draft hand.

Re: Trade Targets ~ Free Agency & MSD player movements
Seriously is there any player genuinely available who hasn’t got a medical, physical, mental or emotional injury/problem/issue? Seems that just about every player considered as gettable has at least one of the above mentioned concerns and makes the whole process almost meaningless
