Eyre has shown a bit early in the last 2 VFL games but struggling to run out the matches having lost half the season to his hammy injury. Copped 2 head knocks against Frankston and missed the last quarter on Sunday so may end up in concussion protocols. Doubt he would back up after 5days to play the Cats on Friday night if fit anyway.

Eyre has been good coming at the ball but needs to time his marks. Looks to be a fluent left foot kick with the ball going long low and fast, rather than the high up and unders.

Eyre is pretty lean though and could do with some body work in the arms, torso and legs as he's struggled in contests when not leaping at the ball or when wrestling with the defender.

Eyre showed a lot of improvement in the VFL team in 2023 playing most of the season. I reckon if he can get clear of injury we could see that improvement again.

I'm not sold on him as a forward yet but he's got a very good kick for a tall and there's something worth persevering with here as his mind and body matures

What is Josh Eyre's best use? Assuming solid fitness and largely injury free.
Chuffed to have seen 3 flag wins in my lifetime but still greedy for more.

Third KPD, intercept mark and kicking down the left flank based on his 2023 season and 2024 preseason.

He had a few games in the forward line post his injury break and played a good half at CHF kicking a few nice goals against the Dona VFl team at a wet and windy Windy Hill.

He doesn’t have the frame of a gorilla, he’s longer and leaner so may take a bit more time to develop. I hope he gets one or two more years to develop

I think Eyre has the potential as a third tall forward- or back...

Such a beautiful kick- if he remains on the list he needs to be pointed to the weights room and also work on his contested marking- definitely has the potential to be a regular senior player and now needs to follow up by showing the absolute commitment to his craft.

Let's give the guy a chance to find his way- big guys can take longer to make the grade
Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away...
