I just think we are playing them at just the right time, they are in a definite form slump. 112 points aint easy to forget. I just have a feeling we can take em. gut feeling. Woods by 10 points, McStay, 4 goals.

Yes Piesnchess, perfect time. Surely their confidence would be affected by the thrashing. Collingwood will win.
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm

We owe them an 80 point thrashing, but that wont be tonight. Collingwood by 29.

I'm wary of what happened after our last good victory on Kings Birthday beating the dreamons, weren't switched on and got jumped early by Norf. I'll still take a one point win tonight though. We need the midfield to be on, give us first use and be physical particularly against Rampe and Mellican coming back from injury. Go Pies, we need to win this elimination final in early August to keep the dream alive

Hi all,
just wanted to share the dimensions of the MCG playing surface versus the SCG playing surface to back up Jack Crisps comments earlier in the week and refute Gerard Healy's comments on SEN. The SCG is smaller, it's oddly shaped , has one wide wing (TV camera side) and one narrow wing. Every pocket has a different shape. The MCG has a uniform shape and is symmetrical all round. See the pics attached and the parameters below for yourself.
Parameter : MCG Dimensions - SCG Dimensions
Ground orientation: East West - North South
Shape: Symmetrical oval - Non-symmetrical ovoid
Length from centre of goal line to centre of goal line: ~ 162m - ~ 156m
Length centre of goal line to edge of centre square: ~ 56m - ~ 53m
Lenth of centre square: ~50m = ~ 50m
Length from centre of goal line to centre of ground: ~ 81m - ~ 78m
Width of playing surface through centre circle (boundary line to boundary line): ~136m - ~133m
Width of wings: ~68m - East Wing ~ 69m / West Wing ~ 64m

I was hoping to see McStay and Kreuger playing together, with Cox chopping out in ruck and FF as needed. Oh well, go Pies!

Reckon last week in Melbourne might have been better but we’ll take it.Piesnchess wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 4:47 pm I just think we are playing them at just the right time, they are in a definite form slump. 112 points aint easy to forget. Pies paying $2.72… way overs!

Quietly confident we can win this. I'm hoping we've turned a corner in recent weeks and we're giving this season one last push, especially in light of Sydney's recent form slump.
We're pretty conservative with our team changes, but continuity and stability is always a good thing. I just wonder whether we should have considered Kreuger to stretch Sydney's defence.
The biggest question is how JDG's absence will affect the team. Once he sustained his hamstring injury last week, we really struggled to stop Carlton's dominance at clearance.

I still think there's a chance we'll see this on the bigger MCG. Given the smaller sized SCG, we could have been rather top heavy.

Agreed, well said, years ago, I was right at the very top of Great Sthn stand, MCG, saw whole oval, I put a 20 cent coin over, it, to my eyes, and it was a perfect circle, same as the coin, perfect. !The Black and White Lion wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 9:33 am Hi all,

I'm hoping we can jump out of the blocks early and deflate Sydney's confidence. They're not renowned for being a fast-starting team.
In first quarters this year, their record is 8 wins, 1 draw, 11 losses. 6 of those losses have come since their mid-season bye (they've played 9 matches in that time). They haven't won a first quarter in excess of 10 points since Round 7.
