Re: VFL Round 17
Ikon Park. Sometimes the AFL is just intolerable. What a shocking year for our VFL team. Injuries, AFL merry go round, lack of KPP and a game plan all on top of one of the worst scheduling nightmares in history. We were already short changed on home games this year playing more away matches than anyone. And now they move a home game to the oppositions ground.
What a joke. This can only be considered a new low for the VFL Pies

Re: VFL Round 17
Debut for Nicky Christian. He's worked hard to get this far. From battling all summer to get a list spot and then toiling away in the VAFA developing himself.
His family would be proud.

Christian is still an U19 but has been playing in the VAFA seniors for Old Melburnians.
Recently played in the Ammos U19s showcase game where the best talent across the U19 competition got to play a rep game.

Re: VFL Round 17
Allan not on the injury Tuesday injury list, maybe picked up an injury/niggle later in the week?
Looks like a good side, just need to put together a 4 qtr game.
Cox to ruck with support from Smit but they will be up against Pittonet who has been dropped by Carlton.
Losing Dean is a bummer but replaced by Frampton who has the height to support Glover in the backline.

Re: VFL Round 17
This should be a good test for Smit. First time he’s had a real ruck partner to support him. Be interesting to see if Smit continues as main ruck and Cox plays fwd / ruck or if they split the time to give Cox some match fitness.
Good to see Nicky Christian earn his VFL stripes too, go wee son

Re: VFL Round 17
Big opportunity for a number of players today after yesterdays belting. Wouldn’t expect to see Sullivan today after his early entry into yesterdays game in the seniors.
At least we’ve posted a VFL team with a bit of experience and strength on most lines. Not a deep midfield, so the forwards will need to take their chances whenever possible.

Re: VFL Round 17
Parker looks the stand out Collingwood player after first quarter. Really composed and skilful and doesn’t waste the footy.
Eyre taken some nice marks in defence but as expected, with such a skinny midfield, we’re not getting first use. Neither Allan or Johnson playing today.
MacRae opens the second quarter with a nice goal on the run. Then followed up by Smit’s second goal for the game.

Half time Blues 8.5 ( 53 ) vs Pies 5.4 ( 34 )
Pies been ok but a couple silly mistakes late in the second allowed the Blues to kick away again.
We just can’t get enough of the footy around the middle. We finally get some height in the team and this week, there’s no midfield to capitalise.
No Allan, Sullivan or Long puts it all on MacRae, Bytel and Sparkes in the middle. Cox and Smit have been competitive against Pittonet and the two big men have both floated forward and had shots on goal. ( Smit with two goals) Frampton has done very little, while Eyre was ok alongside him in defence. Jaith having an almost day, while DeMattia has been quiet on the wing.

Carlton 16.12 ( 108 ) vs Pies 5.6 ( 36 )
Really horrible third quarter by Collingwood. Totally outplayed and overrun by Carlton. We hardly had the ball in our forward line for entire quarter. Probably only Bytel and Jaith held their own in the third. Blues have 130 more disposals by the end of the third quarter. Obviously there weren’t many positives to come from the last 30 mins.

Missed the first half, turned it on at half time, thought the scores looked OK. turned it off half way through the last when we're 90 points down.

Re: VFL Round 17
Gee the glass half full brigade can’t even defend this. Carlton are 19th on the ladder. We have virtually no quality youth.
