Half surprised this hasnt been merged with the welcome to thread from 2015
I dont think Moore is the weakest link. But I have been annoyed with some of the decisions he has made which have proven to be costly. Bad short passes in the backline come to mind. And that bad hand pass against North last week... Geez that was hard to watch.
Still, he is a sensational captain and every other club would kill to have him.

It is good to raise different topics.
Moore has not had his best season this year. As others have said this is due to a combination of factors such as:
No Murphy
Howe in and out a bit
Opposition teams targeting his man more perhaps
A more inexperienced midfield leading to inconsistency of pressure on opposition mids going forward
Frampton having to play forward
Impatience - for good intent Moore has sought to kick start some quick ball movement - however, he has been a bit off it and has made some errors in this which have been punished by opposition
Bedding in Dean as a new key back
IQ being out of form - he is improving as we go
I think his captaincy is first class but his in-game judgment probably needs to be a little more prudent - he is super smart and has amazing coaches so would be right across where he needs to tweak things.
I think I read Sam Taylor is miles off where he was last year so I suspect some of Moore is his selflessness to help the team at perhaps the expense of his own game.
I'm a massive Moore fan - sure I have been frustrated at times with his turnovers or mistiming in interventions but he has also played some really good footy and I am confident he will have a great back half to the season. In that respect he will be a bit different to last year where form and injury hampered him towards the back end of 2023.

Daicos, impossible angle ... Goal!

Anyone who thinks Darcy Moore is Collingwood's "weakest link" is probably capable of proposing that we trade Sidebottom to Essendon in 2016 for a late third-rounder.

Same; losing Moore in 1982, then Picken in 1983, broke me as a 12 year old.inxs88 wrote: I love our captain, loved his Dad until he defected ...
However, if Peter Moore hypothetically stays - do we still recruit David Cloke from Bitchmond? And Raines too for that matter?
If not, no Travis, who thus now players for the tiggers, then the 2010 premierships most likely lands at St.Rapist.
And that would be bad for football....
Once Frampo returns down back, DM's form will recover, and quickly.inxs88 wrote:... however as it stands, he is down on form, skill execution and decision making amidst not impacting the game to the standard he is capable of.
Think otherwise but it's there for all to see. Again, move Frampton back and let Darcy run amok.
Although the disposal standard does need tweaking; missing too many targets by both hand and foot.
Has effectively forfeited his AA spot to Weitering in the process.

And do the ones who fail to renew the following year get punished by the KGB?
Jus' askin' for a comrade...

Frampton was down back. No improvement from El Capitan though our backs had to deal with an avalanche for a while and held up ok as a unit.
His timing and disposal is off, has been all season.

But he has 5+ intercept marks a game. Not the same player.joemamone@gmail.com wrote:if you were to go back and review games last year you would realise that Moore almost without exception, would cost us one to two turnover goals every game due to his kicking, but he was and is not the only one. I guess we just expect better from him.
