^ The coaching panel at Collingwood, now, is simply the best that they have had since Phonse Kyne sat in the chair. If a way to win can be found for any given game, they will find it. We may win, we may not - but we can be very confident that Collingwood won't lose because our game-plan and in-game strategy suck.

Mate I’ll toss this question to you and it’s done in a serious way
We’ve seen 5 debuts in the past few weeks and the way the club unveils it to the players is interesting using team mates to highlight the reason
So here’s the question
Does this unique peer relationship and affirmation from the coaches lift the debutant and his team mates ?
Seriously there hasn’t been a single player who’s debuted and you could say well they weren’t up to it

I don't know, qld - but my guess would be yes. What I have noticed is that Collingwood seems to have done very well over the last couple of seasons picking players because they had to. I admired Malthouse's coaching but always dreaded what would happen if we had to make more than two changes to the team - for whatever reason, our team then didn't adjust on the run the way it does now (even though the players Mick was able to put on the park were probably, taken as a whole, "better" than the ones in our McRae sides). Mick frequently built up the debutants but quite a few of them simply didn't live up to the hype.

Psychological support is critical in any competitive setting. It's amazing how much better people perform at whatever they are doing if they think the organization genuinely has their back.

I know it sounds like a cliche, but Fly's mantra that we set players up to succeed, seems to be the reality at Collingwood. It demonstrates the professionalism of our club, something I can't honestly recall being so evident ever before. Sure, their may be the odd occasion when a player is promoted prematurely, due to the lack of any other option, but so far I haven't seen any evidence of that. Clearly it's not just Fly but an outcome of our whole coaching panel and football department, which is clearly cohesive and stable, something which sadly was absent during Bucks' reign, when he had to deal with a revolving door of football department heads.

I am pretty sure Fly said both will play. He hasn't misled anyone yet.

One of the factors that helps set newbies up to succeed, is that our game day strategies are so system driven, they don’t rely on individual brilliance or the replacements to star, in order to win games. If everybody plays their role, it’s usually enough to get the job done. You often hear Hine in particular, say “ he plays the Collingwood way “ The McRae Collingwood way is basically instinctive quick decision making and the ability to adhere to game plans and remain disciplined. Guarantee Allan and Parker won’t be overburdened with instructions on debut. It will be more about play the same role we’ve prepared you for all season and the outcome will look after itself.

'Put a bit of hurt on the kid': Brayshaw promises painful Perth homecoming for old teammate Schultz
https://www.theroar.com.au/2024/05/23/p ... e-schultz/

The big matchup: Lachlan Schultz vs his old side
Brayshaw has come out and said he and his teammates are keen to line up against Schultz and could physically target him in the game. There is no doubt this matchup will be fierce and the Dockers will get into the forward early on, so Schultz must not let this friendly banter get to him, otherwise, it could take him out of the game early.

For their opponents the Pies, Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary reported that veterans Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom are on the flight to Perth after a six-day break.

Additionally, Brody Mihocek looks to have been given the all-clear by doctors for his hamstring test earlier in the week, and should return in a much-needed boost in offence for Collingwood.

Charlie Dean, Ash Johnson and Nathan Kreuger have also joined along for the trip; presumably as emergencies, but not entirely clear given the large squad.

An injured Jordan De Goey is surprisingly also travelling, perhaps in a bench role for the club.

Wow, they are bringing half the list! Will keep the shockers guessing I suppose.
Might get a couple of cheapies if they rough up Schultz, get him well deep in the forward 50 for the 1st quarter..those cheapies may well be the difference in the end. Its gonna be tight
