The plaintiff today found out that there are worse things than being sent to prison - for example, being ordered to pay the costs of a lengthy defamation proceeding on the indemnity basis.

yep. Likely suicide within the next 5 years.

I guess buying a rural property in the south of France isn't in the immediate future then.

He's appealed the Decision

There is no getting out of the costs if he loses the appeal. Interestingly I think this is after the latest Rape Charge he is set to plead not guilty in the Toowoomba Court.
