Agree wit most of the Bagging that has taken place eg Leon Davies was playing really well then allowed melbourne back in and he barely did anything from there. One positive for the year i think(hope) the careers of A. Williams and B. Kineer seem finally over!

You cannot play 2.5 Quarters against good teams and expect to win.

We were still up by 30 points and still lost.

No Rocca or Taz hurt us. The loss to the blues is the game that is going to cost us finals. I would rather finish 16th than 9th.

Leon Davis' miss wasn't the reason why we lost. Didn't we actually kick a goal pretty much straight after that incident anyway? I do agree that what Davis did was stupid, he had all the time in the world to straighten up, but we can't say that it cost us the match, that's one of many things that contributed. If we're gonna blame one incident as the reason why we lost then we midas well just blame some umpiring decisions too.

What i saw happen yesterday was the same thing that i've been seeing all year, and that's playing good footy in 'patches'. Just not good enough...

Regarding the Didak-Heffernan incident, from where i was i thought that Heffernan kneed Dids while they were on the ground. Could be wrong though.

A lot of footy is played above the shoulders ... momentum is a HUGE part of the modern game. Against Carlton, OBreee missed an easy goal that would have make Carlton drop their heads and it would have been over.
Agaisnt Melbourne is wasnt quite thast clear cut but we were well on top and if Magic kicks that goal, Melbourne would probably have been gone. That was the turning point of the game.
In todays footy, you must put teams away. If you dont, they will get a sniff and momentum will turn. That is what happenned. That doesnt mean Leon cost us the game, we still should have been good enough to hang on. It is just stating that Leon could have put them away.

I agree with what you say, especially the point about O'bree and Carlton, but the thing is, didn't we get a goal straight after Davis' miss? If we did then the turning point would've been sometime after that.

We are not blaming leon for the game it was the turning point when melbourne got back into the game.If leon kicked that goal it may have deflated melbourne and confidence would have grew through our team.I am amazed no one has commented on my early post (page 1) why did'nt bucks start in the middle when melboune got a run on in the last. What annoys me there was a thread during the week that he was 100% fit so why would'nt your best player be were the ball is?

Yea when melbourne got within 3 points Mick put Buckley, Burns, Licka and Josh in the middle...

It was too late.

*EDIT* With nicholson free in our forward line, Brisbane's fab four wouldn't have won us the match. That was the real mistake.

:( I couldn't believe we lost it from that position yesterday. We ran out of legs, and that was it. We couldn't regain the momentum, and after that we were gone. I said to my dad, as Melbourne kicked a goal after we had kick the first 2 of the 3rd..."we are going to lose this", and we did.

Why in the hell wasn't Shaw brought back on? We needed run, and for the few moments he was on, he provided that.

Not happy, but what can you do?

Really interesting point! I saw Bucks directing players everywhere at that point. However the danger was there even before they got to 16 points down especially with the momentum they were building.
At times you can see merit in what Sheedy does with Hird. "Hirdy, you are on the ground and have the best feeling about what is going on down there. Go to where the danger is" He is a person who has the ability to read the game so why not ustilise that strength. That's what a captain is for.

My thoughts on the game (for what its worth)

Jeff White killed us in the centre in the final quarter and was not manned up tight enough.

One goal by Leon would not have saved us the game.

Presti did an awesome job on Neitz for most of the match till he ran out of steam at the end.

Wakelin should've been brought back on in the final quarter.

Injured players will run of of steam in wet conditions which is why we could not keep with the Dees in the fourth.

R.Shaw should've been put onto Yze when he went forward.

To me it was like the Carlton game all over again. We obviously did not learn from our mistakes. We had the demons begging for mercy but let them off the hook by not capitalising on our periods of dominance enough.

The Leon Davis miss was very very costly and to me was the goal that could have sunk the demons once and for all.

The fitness/coming back from injury doesnt wash with me. Lets not forget Melbourne travelled to Brisbane and Perth in consecutive weeks so if anyone was running out of steam it should have been them.

Thats 8 points down the drain this year and come September that will be the reason why will not make it and shit kickers like Essendon, Carlton, Fremantle, Sydney, Kangaroos may be playing finals football ahead of us.

Its a pity the great work in the first half was pretty much all undone. We are not that far away from the other teams in the competition. Once we learn how to play four quarters of football we will be winning more than we lose. However in terms of this season we may have left our run a bit late.

I'm gutted by the loss. After the huge effort the boys put in to get in front and then lose.... It's just not acceptable. No excuses. I'm usually positive even after a loss but now I really think it will be a struggle to even finish 8th.

I thought J Cloke, Clement and Cole did exceptionally well in the backline. Presti held Neitz well despite those 2 goals in the fourth. Maxwell shows class and doesn't hesitate under pressure.

I can not accept the IF comments about Taz and Ant. They didn't play hence had no impact in the game. We were 30 up without them. That is what counts. I also think Leon has improved over the last few weeks and think people should lay off him. 18 players on the ground, not 1 that cost us.

Welcome back Bux. His attack on the ball and hip/shoulder on Brown just before 1/2 time was brilliant. Some not so good kicks but hey it's been awhile. Josh did well in the ruck when we were winning, but once Melb gained control of the game they smashed us in the centre. Ran out of legs unfortunately. Maybe the effort to get in front cost us our energy in the fourth?

Hopefully the sun in QLD will do the boys some good and they'll come out firing for Sydney. I'm sure i'll be over yesterday by the time i'm in sydney for the game and much more positive.

It has taken me a whole day to come to grips with the capitulation at the G on monday. J.Cloke welcome back young man, after building for the last 3 weeks you were magnificent on the weekend. Good to see him with his head back up and his confidence back. Clement and Presti were very good. I am a big fan of Neon Leon but how long is Mick going to tolerate unforced errors with little or no pressure and showboating has no place until 1 minute to go in the granny and your 20 or so points up.
