Wounded Collingwood Magpies are still potent as West Coast Eagles prepare for testing road clash

Collingwood are set to lose three of their top six scorers in one hit for this weekend’s clash against West Coast - but there’s still plenty of firepower to be on high alert for.
...“I’m glad Beau McCreery’s not playing - he’s one of the fastest humans I’ve ever played on, so that’s nice,” Cole said on SEN.

Elliott could be in doubt to play after an ongoing back complaint (Which was carried over after the Essendon game)

We might as well rest the seniors who haven’t got an injury and play the seconds
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm ☔️

If Elliot doesn’t come up then let’s Joe Richards
Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark of the last quarter

Looks like we go into this game with a VFL forward line.
Do not risk Jamie's back - does not play unless all doubt has totally cleared up by Saturday.
Assuming that he does not play, Richards comes in as like for like.
Howe and McInnes to play as our "tall forwards", with McInnes more the Ollie Henry type and Howe providing an aerial threat.
Cox to play forward alot of the time, and Sidey and WHE to rotate forward to add some experience.
This sudden explosion of injuries is very concerning, and makes this game far too equal for my liking.
Hoping for yet another selection and coaching masterclass.
Free Julian Assange!!

Losing Mihocek hurts more than losing his scoring and forward contests. Possibly more important is his marking ability up the ground where he often takes clutch marks in our forward transition outside fifty. I suspect losing that will hurt us more than the loss of his goal kicking capabilities.

That's a good assessment Gerry. However, I would prefer to keep our defensive line-up as it is, where Howe plays best. Of course he could always be swung up forward during the game if needed.

McInnes is the likely replacement for Checkers (though clearly not like for like), and we will need Cox to spend most of his time as our tall forward target. My team would be:

B: Howe. Frampton Maynard
HB: Quaynor. Moore. Markov

C: Sidey. Pendles. J. Daicos
FOLL: Cameron, N. Daicos, Crisp

HF: WHE. McInnes. Harrison
F: Hill Cox Elliott

IC: Lipinski, Sullivan, Noble, Macrae, Richards (sub)

Out: Mihocek, McCreery, Schultz
In: Macrae, McInnes, Richards (sub)

In that case I'd bring in Carmichael, as he is strong bodied and can play both forward and as a mid. However, apparently Bytel has been in good form in the VFL, though I haven't seen him play. Either one of those would be good options.

Any more outs, injuries, and the Nicks first XV111 may have to rock up. :o

This now looks very much like a danger game with the outs we have.

I reckon Mihocek is just about the hardest one to replace. Not just his huge workload in the front half but he is often the bail out marking option coming out the the back half.
