Correct, it’s almost like a concerted effort to keep ‘em down.stui magpie wrote:In the first situation, most places are great places to live. I'd still put Australia over the US, but splitting hairs. What'sinaname wrote:

If you're poor, but have a great work ethic, then America is a great place to be.
In the second situation, Nah. Even with a great work ethic you could be on shit money for your lifetime, particularly with the decline of manufacturing jobs. If you live in a big city and come from a poor background, your papers are basically stamped. You're fvcked. Yes there's exceptions, but I'd much rather come from a poor background here than in the USA.

Another reason why the far right is always dangerous: the fascist and criminal ties are never far away. While no doubt some of it will be mischievous point scoring, you also wouldn't doubt for a second they'd be very easy and willing lackeys of Moscow. Just look at how quickly Trump's crazies have turned on Ukraine, while they're also prolific online, so easily harnessed. Trump's henchmen don't even have to risk communicating with Russia anymore; the mutual payoff is already clear.
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/15/worl ... ussia.htmlWhile some of the accusations against the AfD may be attempts at point-scoring by political rivals, the security concerns are real. As evidence of the party’s links to Moscow accumulate, suspicions are being expressed across the spectrum of mainstream German politics.
“The AfD keeps acting like the long arm of the terrorist state Russia,” Roderich Kiesewetter, the deputy head of the Parliament’s intelligence committee and a member of the center-right Christian Democrats, wrote on social media.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, Europe has struggled to fend off influence operations by Moscow aimed at weakening Western unity and resolve. The worries extend beyond eavesdropping and spying to include Moscow’s ties to political parties, especially on the far right, which are proving to be useful tools for the Kremlin.

She was on 7 news too.
Commentators seem to be trying to make this into an issue about breastfeeding which is completely not the point. She wasn't asked to leave because she was breastfeeding, she was asked to leave because the baby was vocalising, they were sitting right up the front and it was putting the comedian off.
Arj has stated that if the baby had been sitting with it's father he would have done exactly the same thing, the whole breastfeeding thing is a total red herring.

Already has. Stupid thing is, she has two older kids who she left home with the father, why couldn't she just express some breast milk so the father could feed it and leave it at home and actually have a night out?

Yep. Definitely sticks out from doing the rounds of all the media outlets.
Also strikes me as a bit of martydom going on. Breast milk, if you can do it (not all women can) is definitely better than formula and breast feeding is a way of bonding with the baby. But, FFS, it's 7 months old. If it aint bonded by now it's never going to be. So buy a fkn breast pump, express some milk so someone else (like the Dad) can feed it, stop being a martyr and having to keep the baby with you all the time and get some life back.

Is that the Ticehurst case you're referring to? I noticed the story yesterday. The type of incidents reported were clearly high-risk, from animal cruelty and rape to repeated stalking and vindictiveness. Who doesn't now know that's a potentially highly dangerous person, especially as her ex?What'sinaname wrote:Sadly it takes a death of woman at the hands of someone out on bail for NSW to commence a review of the bail system.
Appalling negligence, and not uncommon here or there.

^ based on what exactly?
We don't censor vision of plane crashing into the WTC, but want to censor this? Both are terrorist acts. If its about blood and gore, well it's not hard to find that content on the internet. You can find photos pictures of the OJ murder scene.
I get pulling footage when the perpetrator streams their own massacre - to dissuade others from trying to gain fame.
But in this case, the service was being streamed by the church itself. So if you censor X, then do you censor churches from streaming services.
What Musk is arguing is that X is a global content provider / distributor. So why should he be bound to the requests of one country's government.
What is the Afghanistan Taliban Government requests X from stopping the streaming of woman in sport as it contravenes their Laws. Does X abide by that?

Fighting against the objectification of woman.
