"With five booming sixes and all-or-nothing daring, Jake Fraser-McGurk has announced himself as the Indian Premier League's latest big hit.

Fraser-McGurk had been warming the bench for Delhi Capitals, waiting patiently for his day in the spotlight - and when the moment came, he grabbed it hungrily on Friday, playing a spectacular winning hand on debut for the struggling franchise with a half-century that lifted them off the foot of the IPL table.

Coach Ricky Ponting, looking to change the fortunes of the struggling franchise, decided to give the lad from Box Hill, who had turned 22 on Thursday, a belated birthday present - and it was his old Test colleague Justin Langer, now in charge of Lucknow Super Giants, who suffered the consequences."

In a big effort overnight, Head reached his hundred from 39 balls opening for Hyderabad. They reached 287 on the back of that platform. Then, as du Plessis threatened in the chase, Cummins took 2 wickets in an over (3 in all) to keep a Maxwell-less Bengaluru to 7/262. The 549 runs was the highest ever run total in a T20 match and Hyderabad's effort was the second-highest score of all-time in a T20 - apparently, Nepal once made a higher score against Mongolia (seriously).

"A brutal century by Travis Head has blasted Sunrisers Hyderabad back into the Indian Premier League play-off places in another match for bowlers to forget.

One of the few who may remember it with any affection is Sunrisers captain Pat Cummins, who went for more than ten-an-over but took three wickets.

Head's second T20 hundred (after his dazzling New Year's Eve effort for Adelaide Strikers in 2015) was the fourth fastest in IPL history, reaching the milestone off 39 balls. His 102 was the launchpad for Hyderabad to make 3-287, bettering their own IPL record of 3-277 set earlier this season.

Yet they only won by 25 runs as Royal Challengers Bengaluru recovered from 6-181 in the 15th over to finish on 7-262. The 549-run aggregate was easily the highest in IPL history. "

"England white-ball skipper Jos Buttler has smashed his second century in three innings, taking full toll on Aussie quick Mitchell Starc to extend Rajasthan Royals advantage at the top of the 2024 Indian Premier League standings.

After bouncing back with three wickets in his previous match on Sunday, Starc again found it tough to stop the bleeding, as Buttler's Royals matched the highest successful run-chase in IPL annals, overhauling Kolkata Knight Riders' 6-223 on the final ball at Eden Gardens."
