Milestone win 2024.
Back to the incredible grit of 2023.
Wonderful coaching and selection.
We on the outside are just guessing.
Tom Mitchell: well done Titch. Proved you are no extinct dinosaur. ( I for one thought you should have been dropped. Our selectors know what they are doing)
Pendles: wow!! What an aggressive game from a 36 year old. Lachie Neale decided to hit you behind the play, and you responded with an open hand to the solar plexus, which the little upstart deserved.
Pendles was brilliant tonight, a truly miraculous player.
Billy Frampton: fantastic game. Smothered Daniher, and was the springboard on numerous occasions.
John Noble: welcome back.
Jack Crisp: shot fired across the bow. Shape up man, or your record run will be terminated. You responded in spades. Will be back in the 22 next game.
Beau McCreery:""Make it count young man". Yes you did. Fantastic aggressive pressure and goal kicking brilliance. Your speed and strength is just dynamite.
2023 swarming pressure and ability to get numbers to the contested ball back again.
this game is a massive confidence booster going forward.
I am in awe of this team, and of Fly

great win for the ages this one.
Kind of reminds me of our win over the cats late last year as the most relived feelijng out of a match as well.
In a way i thought we were gone second quarter.
Was one of those games that you go into when you are up against it but a bit of backing you come good.
Kind of a good all team effort.
Do we think Pendles has a case to answer for tho with that tummy slap on Neil.
I would say he gets a 1k fine thats it but we will find out next tuesday night with the MRO. Was a bit lousy but i felt he just brushed his hand on his tummy.
But enjoy the win win Pies and now to beat hawks in the revenge match of the year.

And to be fair, Lions were outstanding the second qtr. They are a quality team. Pies just hung in there and weathered the storm and came home strong the start of the third. Great to see Noble back. He provides so much run.

If you look at the replay a few seconds before, you see that Pendles cops one from Neale. His justified anger found expression in an open hand slap to Neale's solar plexus. Neale gets up, winded for a moment, but otherwise unhindered.
No significant harm to Neale.
Provocation from Neale leading to incident.
In a fair world, only a fine for Pendles.

I think Checkers had his best gmae in 2024 as well.
Liked Mitchells as well.
Cirsp and JDG some of that old mojo back as well.
Enjoy Easter what a way to start it.

Great summary. Love this post.
Sums up my thoughts on how the game played out and the players who were most impactful in our win.

Yep Neils punch on Pendles was done with a closed fist and higer up on pendles chest. Fine
Pendles one half the amount as it was an open hand.
Must say Neil did milk it Pendles tho brushed it off but still frustated hence the pay back.
Was at the time of the match brisbane was lossing it too.
So milking was the best way.
Either way be a fine at worst.
Micheal christain will just give both a the word as to the effect of "cut this out of our game you know better"
Case closed move on.

Schultz's first half warranted criticism. He couldn't get near it and wasn't impacting.

However, he was solid after half time and deserves some credit for his pressure acts. Did well to set up Mihocek's goal in the 3rd quarter when the game was at stake.

Framptons first possession was reading the play beautifully, a super clean collect for 201cm big man, and practically within the same movement a perfect clean spear pass.
That oozed confidence and was inspirational, it was a good night for a few, but jeez that was AA classy and set the tone.

Our 84 tackles was a standout, but hardly ever by a single player..usually 2 or 3... that adds up to about 200+ tackles lol

We are on the board. 12 or 13 wins to go.

We’re getting there but collectively our ball handling still needs to improve because we’re still giving up way to many scores from our own turnovers. That polish will come and given that we have played very good opposition four times in nineteen days, I would think the extra days recovery coming up will help us to reset and get in some decent training blocks, rather than just ice baths, travel and rehab.
Tonight was validation the system still stacks up and that we haven’t simply “ been worked out “. This competition is about work rate and effort and if you don’t out work your opponent, then you won’t win many games of footy. The required standard has now been set and as long as we continue to play to that level of effort longer than our opponents, then the ladder position will look after itself.
