Just read Mick's spray on the tribunal in the age and down the bottom of the article they mentioned the idea of Bucks playing at chb. I don't mind that idea if he does a swap with Clemo. I think it's a bit too much to ask of Bucks in his first game back to go down forward and be a leading option. Clement could do it and he's a gun kick.
Hearing the 'Black & White Army' roar is the greatest sound in the world.

If Buckely plays as a forward, all he has to do is make sure he keeps it warm by jogging if (hopefully it will never happen) play doesn't come down there for a long time. Better keeping it warm with controlled jogging than grinding 2/3rds pace for long stretches plus frequent flat-out sprinting with dodging, running backwards etc.Cam wrote:If they want to do Buckley's hammy again he will play forward or back. He MUST play midfield so that it stays warm.

This promises to be one of the games of the season. Melbourne players and their supporters would love nothing more than to put a huge dent in Collingwoods season while cementing their spot in the top 4. While for Collingwood everygame is a must win.
I cannot remember the last game we have won when Tarrant has been missing from the team? Maybe someone can provide the answer to that. If somehow MM can conjure up a winning forward line without Tarrant and Rocca not 100% then we have come a long way since the start of the year. The key will be Josh Fraser. He has had a few games back from injury so should have no fitness problems. Josh really needs to provide a decent contest across the half forward/full forward line as well as kicking a few goals. Rocca if he plays will hang around the goal square but still will take a quality defender to stop him. My only fear is that Melbourne will run off Pebbles like teams did with Sav. I would play Leon as his last MCG game against Carlton he did rather well. However i would play him for the whole game but put him on otice that this is his last chance.
Melbournes weapons this year have been Jeff White and their half back line. Guy Richards has been playing some pretty good football but this is his biggest challenge yet. Playing against the premier ruckman in the competition in finals like conditions. Good luck Guy.
MM needs to put a tagger on Nathan Brown on their half backline or he will chop you to pieces as he is a ball winner. Freo mate a fatal mistake in placing a lazy footballer like Jeff Farmer on him and Farmer got taken to the cleaners. My choice would be Brodie Holland and maybe Scott Burns when he is resting from the midfield. Yze, Green, Whelan and Rivers have been giving Melbourne plenty of drive from their this year.
Up forward i think the match ups will be something like this. Wakelin takes Neitz, Clement matches up on Bruce who is a very dangerous forward on his day. Cole takes Vardy with Rhyce Shaw taking Davey. Cloke take Miller. Surely Clokey can deliver on Miller ?? Maybe Lonie take Robertson ? It could be Jimmy which would maybe mean Lonie taking Bruce. I would have Presti or Walker on the bench as some insurance.
In the midfield Burns, Licuria will need to be at their workman like best. Melbournes relatibely no name midfield of Thompson, Heffernan, Yze (on occassions) and Grren (on occassios) have been doing a great job. Woewodin should be primed for a big game with plenty of MCC members at the game for him to perform in front of. Didak and Benny Johnson will hopefully get stints in the midfield as well. I would be inclined to perhaps give McGough a game especially if its wet. Its great having Lockyer back as he is another good ball user.
Having Bucks back is a bonus but after having played very limited this year my main wish is for Bucks to come through the game unscathed Bucks is too good a player to be out of the game injured.
All in all for us to win Licuria, Burns and Fraser will all need to have big games.

More than anything else, I would like to see every player play with the passion, commitment and toughness that the Hawks displayed last night. Put Melbourne under severe pressure, make them earn every touch of the ball in blood and sweat, tackle hard and attack the ball with such desperation that every Melbourne player starts to hesitate before going near it, and we'll win this game.

After a bright start, Collingwood were never really challenged by the Demons and ended up winning by 56 points. Burns was best with 4 goals while Rhyce Shaw played his best ever match for the Magpies.
In the past three weeks, the Collingwood machine has begun to warm up. After a slow start to the season, the Pies are now in form and have a forth straight victory in their sights. But it all seemed to be derailed when spearhead Chris Tarrant was controversially rubbed out by the AFL tribunal. Many people now share the view that the Pies, without Tarrant will meekly succumb to a fit and firing Melbourne team. In my opinion, that is not the case.
In defence, big David Neitz is always a key to a Demon victory. The general rule is: Stop Neitz – Stop Melbourne. But this season that has not been the case. Neitz has played well, but not had a large influence on proceedings. Players such as Peter Vardy, Brad Miller, Aaron Davey and Russell Robertson have all come to the fore and played a large role in the Demons surge up the ladder. Shane Wakelin is the man most likely to get the role on Neitz. Strong and reliable, Wakelin is the best option to counter the Melbourne skipper. Brad Miller demands attention after a strong first half of the season. With strong hands, the former Queenslander is hard to stop. Simon Prestigiacomo, returning from a four week lay off from senior football will be the main assigned to Miller. Another man to be watched is former Tiger Ben Holland. After a spell in the VFL, Holland will be eager to please coach Neal Danaher. Jason Cloke has the body to go with Holland and will be given the job on the dangerous Demon. At ground level, Davey has been an excitement machine all season with his ability to sneak under the oppositions guard. He now commands respect and no doubt Mick Malthouse will keep a very close watch on him. Ben Johnson has been in All Australian form all season for the Pies and will relish the challenge of playing on Davey. Peter Vardy plays a similar role to that of Davey. The former Crow is fast, elusive and knows where the goals are. After a four goal effort in the wet against Fremantle, the ever improving Richard Cole will get the first crack at the injury prone Demon. The last forward to be watched closely is Russell Roberson, quick, smart and blessed with a terrific leap; he is a real danger man. The ever reliable James Clement is just the man for the job. Clement had the pace to go with Robertson and also the football brains to run off him when required.
The midfield will be where the battle is won and lost. Names such as Buckley and Yze, Woewodin and Bruce, Green and Burns, Licuria and Thompson, Lockyer and Brown, McGough and McDonald, Holland and Heffernan are all very important to both sides’ structures. The best performed midfield will lead their side to victory. The return of Magpie skipper Nathan Buckley will surely boost the side, giving Licuria, Burns and Woewodin much needed support. Buckley will be tagged by Heffernan, while Holland will go to Bruce. Both match ups will be absolutely pivotal to both teams’ chances. In the ruck, All Australian hopeful Jeff White comes up against the ever improving Guy Richards. Both have been in outstanding form in recent weeks, with the match up being one of the highlights of the contest.
Up forward, in the absence of Chris Tarrant and the injury cloud hanging over Anthony Rocca, Josh Fraser and Cameron Cloke have big roles to play in the Magpies chances. If Rocca is fit to play, he will only be operating at 75%, which means Fraser and Cloke will have to turn in one of their best performances. Alistair Nicholson will take Anthony Rocca while Jarrod Rivers will man up on Fraser. Chris Lamb needs to prove himself for the Dees and will find himself playing on big Cloke. Alan Didak has hit a rich vein of form in recent weeks and no doubt Danaher will have his work cut out. Matthew Whelan will be the man to tag the enigmatic Magpie.
In a final prediction, I am tipping the Pies in an upset. With the return of Buckley, the Pies will look to derail the Demons but be sure to take heart tablets along with you as this should be a beauty. Pies by 7 points.
