Both Melbourne and Collingwood have named extended interchanges. Probably they will prune it down later.

Interesting to note that Johnno is named as a forward.

Basically, this is going to come down to whether Rocca plays and, whilst there's been more than one cautionary note issued by the club, I'm inclined to suspect he will. But, if he does, I'd expect him to be anchored in the goal square with Cam Cloke at CHF.

I suspect Tex will play. He's a backman, sure, but he's also played on the ball, and I think Fraser may well spend more time up forward than in the ruck. Earlier in the week I thought we'd play Fraser in the ruck to match White's around-the-ground play, as Fraser if the only guy we have who can match him. But he will be a very difficult matchup for Melbourne in the forward line. If he spends more time up forward than on the ball, we need a relief ruckman and we can't keep dragging Fraser and Cam out of the forward line to do that, as it will upset team balance too much. I'm inclined to think Walker will be relieving Guy off the bench.

Since I also think Buckley will play, we need another change. I don't think he's done anything wrong but suspect Dane Swan will make way for Bucks.

I don't think either Holland or Presti will play. If we need a pinch hitter tall in the backline, then Tex can fit in there as well. He's quite versatile and playing terrific footy in the backline at Willi. I think Presti may still be a bit underdone and another run at Willi will do him good. A run at Willi would be best for Holland as well, as he's been out for four weeks.

Actually, if the team lines up as I'm suggesting, maybe there won't be much in it in the end.

The defence will stand up as it's now pretty settled and has been playing tough, tight footy for quite a few weeks. The midfield has been much, much better since Burns came back - a lot tougher, harder at the ball. We need Guy to play an absolute ripper in the ruck and for the forward line to step up. Not impossible but difficult (still leaning the same way, you see!).

I believe final team selections for the Monday game are not required to be lodged with the AFL until 5pm Saturday (usually Friday night but this is a Monday game). I think Rocca's selection will not actually be made final until about 1pm Monday. Maybe after a light run/test Monday morning. Look for Walker to be named in the Emergencies on Saturday night if not in the 22.

Walker will replace rocca if not fit. If it is forecast rain and rocca is not fit walker may not play.

ATM rain is forcast, but I don't reckon it'll make much difference to who plays. If Rocca is fit he'll play, if not they wont bring Walker in - Cam Cloke at CHF and Didak / Fraser at FF, Richards is back to full rucking duties - hope he enjoyed his holiday :P

Fraser and Cam Cloke can swap if it's not going too well. I still reckon Swan in the forward line, especially if it isn't wet - that boy can take a grab.

The key will be the crumbers - Didak, will Leon step up? O'Bree might be brought back through the forward line, and Woey might get a bit of time down there, but I'd have him in the middle, especially at the start.

Overall, it'll be a hard slog, hopefully the midfield will pull through - McGough should play, center bounces Buckley or McGough, Woey +/- Burns - it's a good rotational midfield, they just need to get some consistent form. Licca on Yze and Lockyer probably HFF, maybe wing, it's a good set up, espeically if Rocca is filling up CHF.

It'll be a hard one, but we can get up. Look at Melbournes draw too, pretty nice so far but a big few weeks coming up for them - us, dons, adelaide at AAMI, St Kilda. Then a pretty nice run home apart from a couple of trips, but it looks like they'll be in the finals, nice to knock them down a rung now.

Earlier in the week, I started a thread for the pre-match but Magfan got the Sticky on first, so had the mods lock my thread, so everything could go in one.

I called my original thread "Confronting our Demons" and, in light of subsequent events, that's proved rather a prophetic title. We really are right up against it now. Boy, are we down in the shit and being written off all over town. We played crap footy for a third of the season but, just as we looked like we might be starting to turn it around, whack!

Tess wrote in another thread that if Eddie didn't stick up for the club after the Taz appeal was turned down, that we would start to lose supporters. I must admit, I got mad. Very, very angry.

There is no chance in hell that true, fair dinkum, die-hard, one-eyed Collingwood supporters are going to stop supporting the club we love, just because we've been shafted. So I wrote:

"We LOVE being hated, we LOVE being mad as hell at everyone who isn't Collingwood, we LOVE it when everyone tries to kick us when we're down, so we get up brushing shit off us, spitting out teeth and we hurt them all where it hurts the most.

On the scoreboard."

And I got so mad, I started to think this might be one for the history books. I've slept on those words and now, in the cold, grey light of early morning, I've settled my mind.

This is the type of incident which, I agree with Tess, makes us madder than hell but, in making us madder than hell, surely also unites us in a way the other mobs can only envy.

Come 4:45pm Monday, I see the whole friggin' mob of us standing all around the Coliseum with great joy in our hearts having pulled off one of the greatest wins of all.
