Er why are we tolerating invaders all of a sudden? Has there been a policy shift?

trav, on form u guys should shit on us.but we all know form isn't everything. if tazz plays god help u guys.we do have the backline to hold u & i beleive our midfield is better, so it comes down to our full-forward, if he plays we win.

Our team this year is vastly different to what you've encountered before. Enjoy the experience. :D
Dear troll,
Silly me, i thought Essendon raped you in 2000 Grand Final. Must be mistaken? Same team that we almost beat in round 22 that year.
What were Jeff Farmers stats in that game too? He got you there.
1988 was the year you and umpires beat us in first semi-final. Thank Murray Wrensted for allowing you to get that far the previous week.
Pity Hawthorn didn't declare at half-time in 1988 Grand Final. 16 goals was ugly, in the rain too.
1989 saw you do us a favour, as it was your lot who were carved by Geelong and Ablett the next week, and not us.
1990 you didn't touch us, but somehow beat Hawthorn 2 weeks in a row. I still can't work that out to this very day.
1991 saw us towel you by 12 goals in round 21 at the MCG, even with your arse-clown Jakovich in form. Yet you still made the 6 and not us?

Any thing i missed here?

Oh and enjoy one of your "even" years. 6 months of fun then 18 months of pain again!!

We've often played Tarrant into form not to mention Ben Graham and Kent Kingsley. No doubt our defence has been our achilles heal for years however so far this year it is ranked 3. Tarrant, more than any other Pie, worries me. Having said that I'd like to beat you with a good Pie side in as it wont mean as much with a lot of ommissions.

As for midfields, I'll back Thompson, Bruce, Green, Johnstone, Heffernan, McDonald, Yze plus the run of Whelan and Brown against your mob. I would prefer a dry day as I don't think that pace is your strong suit. Buckley, Burns, Lockyer, McGough, Licuria, Woewodin yeah, you guys go ok but there's not a lot of flair there though, is there ?

As for my age ? You got me !! In my 30's, so missed the glory days, if that's your reason for asking.

Anyone with a username with Trav in it is obviously an utterly overated softcock like Travis Johnstone.

But I must commend you Trav, after all if you are a Melbourne member you are one of a dying breed. My oh my even when you tossers come out of the woodwork you still only manage to rattle up 25,000 members, most of which are probably MCCmembers te club gets bugger all out of. But we should let you enjoy your glory "weeks" while the club still exists.

All the best with the AFL assistance package application. The Pies are happy to give some of their massive gate takings so you can see the club fail again next year after a good year in 2004.

Agreed Cam. I wonder what happened for example to that Eagles Tosser from last week making all his bold predictions. I also thought this was a Collingwood supporters forum.
With regards to what you wrote Big T, Collingwood has actually given Melbourne the last 2-3 Queens Birthdays as home games. If I was running Collingwood, I would give these clubs absolutely nothing!!! Its amazing how they all love to see Collingwood fail, and yet they could not survive without the Pies.

The fact is Melbourne are doing well this year because they have a good even team with no champions (perhaps with the exception of Neitz) but a lot of good consistent players. The best player on the ground next week will be Buckley, followed by Tarrant if he plays. If those two turn it on no one from Melbourne can stop them.

On the flip side, Yze is dong well, but Licca will get him and restrict him to 12 possies and get 22 himself, doing the same old match winning performances in the same old ways.

Our HBF will worry the Dees, but their HBF may worry us too, that will be a good battle, if ever we need accountable forwards it's this week. I think our midfield can beat melbournes, after last weeks performance, but Woey, Tarks and O'Bree (if he plays) will have to keep improving and Bucks will have to be in form (if he plays). Burns and Licca will be good whatever, that's a given with the dependable duo.

I think this week, unlike most games, the midfield may not be as important as the forward line, we may well cancel each other out and then it'll be our forwards against theirs, if Tarrant plays we'll win, if he and rocca don't, it's looking grim.

Funny how these people appear in these situations... i laugh at them.

If Melb win i guess we'll never hear the end of it... and if Collingwood win we'll never hear of you again, until three years from now when you are half decent again.

I see this all the time... im suprised we havnt had any St Kilda supporters show up.

There's a lot of talk on other threads about possible match-ups and changes. Funny, I thought THIS was the pre-match thread.

I don't think anyone can comment on possible changes right now as:
(i) Taz's appeal is pending this afternoon and as the thread on his report showed, lots of people can get it wrong,
(ii) whilst perhaps unlikely to play, Rocca will remain a chance until the team is selected and as we are playing Monday, I think Collingwood have until 5pm Saturday to make the final selection, and
(iii) Buckley looks a good chance to be selected but he won't be playing in midfield as the club won't risk his hammy so early (where will he play, you ask, well I think you need to be a qualified crystal ball reader before you can say anything about that with confidence!).

What is clear is that our improvement over the last few weeks has come on the back on a vastly improved forward performance (have you all already forgotten the discussion in which it was agreed we needed to kick 15 goals a game to be in with a chance?) and, if Taz & Rocca miss, that performance will fall away drastically. We'd be lucky to kick 10.

Regardless of reports, injuries, selection permutations, etc. what is also clear is that Melbourne aren't sitting in 2nd spot because they suddenly got lucky. They are there because they have been playing damned good footy, have had pretty much their best team on the park each week and that means we are going to have to play at very close to our 2002/2003 best form to match it with them.

And whilst I have no doubt whatsoever that the guys will play this game to their absolute last breath, we need the best 22 on the field first.

I await the appeal decision and tonight's teams........

Taz is not out yet - we still have an appeal tonight to get through, funnily enough, I think luck just may be on our side.......just watching the incident again and again makes me wonder how he could possibly have got 2 weeks for that. I consider myself a fair and reasonable person and usually can see both sides of the arguement, but the tribunal this year have lost me - I have no respect whatsoever for them......just makes me shake my head and wonder...

We MUST kick more goals to win this match (sounds obvious hey :) ) but we have struggled all year....woo hoo last week we kicked 14.....IF Taz and Rocca dont play, who will kick our goals????

Small forwards MUST deliver and deliver big............we know Dids can, but Leon must chip in, as well as Brodie (hopefully he will be hungry after sitting out 4 wks).

If Buckley plays I would expect him to play midfield. That way he will be constantly moving, and then resting on the bench. There they can warm him up again with a thorough rubdown, check all the signs, then send him out there again. If you play him forward or back he can cool down too much while the ball is up the other end.
Get back on top.
