Dutton is a despised political figure.
Rejection of the Voice did not translate at all into support for Dutton.
The growing unpopularity of the Voice proposal over the last year in the Australian population correlates entirely with the growing disgust with the Albanese government, but Dutton has not benefited from this at all. The entire ruling establishment, Labor and Liberal alike, are reviled by huge sections of the population.

Expected result but definitely not great.
Whoever won this referendum, yes or no, the conditions of the vast majority of the Aboriginal population are certain to deteriorate further. Both Labor and Liberal are united on spending public money on the military, giving tax cuts to the wealthy, and cutting social expenditure. Both Albanese and leaders of the No campaign have explicitly articulated their intention to slash expenditure for the indigenous population. This entire referendum was a fraud, and the outcome - whether yes or no - will mean ongoing attacks on living standards for all of the working class, including the Aboriginal population, who are the most impoverished and oppressed sections of the working class.

This result should be neither a celebration or considered a failure. It is just a reflection of the majority of Australian’s who are hard working, respectful, inclusive and supportive and I really hope that the activists don’t try and portray No voters as anything else.
I encourage everyone who voted Yes to properly understand as to why the majority of Australia were against the Voice and maybe realise that the proposal put forward was seen by most as lacking detail with real solutions to tackling indigenous disadvantage.
A Royal Commission into indigenous run programs would be a good start because the funding and resources are there but strangely there seems to be no progress.

Most people look at how something affects them, not others.

You can give people oodles of information but it still comes down to, what is in for me?

Now to see what the next step will be.

The funding and resources are not there. the claim that there is "too much waste" is a lie, spread by both Labor and Liberal politicians, to justify further cuts to Federal spending on the aboriginal population, instead transferring the money across to buying military armaments and tax cuts for the rich. Any Royal commission would simply cover this up.

This is not true.
When the Albanese government first announced the referendum proposal, just after being elected, there was significant suppot (over 60% according to polls conducted at the time.) This was because the Labor party strategists understood that there was deep seated sympathy for the Aboriginal population among Australian workers, and a strong desire to help the indigenous population improve their conditions of life. However, due to the right wing policies of the Albanese government over the last year, it has become apparent to millions that the Albanese government cannot be trusted. The proponents of the Yes campaign have never been able to explain exactly how their proposals would help the Aboriginal people. And there is good reason for this. it is because the Voice does not aim in any way to address the social crisis of the vast majority of the indigenous population. It aims only to enrich a very small, privileged layer of indigenous academics, bureaucrats and entrepreneurs, who will streamline the profits for mining corporations and pastoral interests.
