Lazza - You can't just chuck a defender in the forward line mate! Having a big body does not mean you can become a forward, you need the instinct. Just look at Cam, in less than 10 games (i think) he has overshadowed his brother in the forward line simply because he has the opportunistic forward sense.
Cam - Mmmm I don't really think the club worries what the supporters think of a player when it comes to their early development. And i wouldnt sell us short either, we (I) only get angry at the coach who picks players who have been given 30-50 games and still do not perform at any significant level. I don't blame Kinnear for being a sub-par footballer at AFL level, i blame MM for continuing to pick him instead of ......... (insert any tall young forward here) who could have been blooded last year.
Put Morrison, Walker, Rowe, The Water Boy, the left goal post and any other piece of solid matter at CHF before Kinnear.

Morrison is a boy who can't get a kick at Williamstown. Do you want to embarras everybody?
Kinnear has form, plays the MCG very well with its wide wings, it is all horses for courses
remember the game he played v Port in the finals
and the game he rolled his ankle
great games at the "G" for the Pies
give him another go
he wont let you down
like Rhyce Shaw has now he has got a second chance

Billy will be at the Gulls all this year as he missed all of last year due to shoulder reco. - let him learn and get into the pies style for 2004 and he will step up in 2005 like C2 has this year.
Anyone who doubted C2 will be equal or better than JBrown would have been convinced after last weeks game. This kid will be better than JB as he can get off the ground to play ruck. Playing ruck is only to get C2 to learn the body english needed to be used in the air - ala Blighty. the way he held off Lynch was magic. C2 also showed he is one of the best kicks for goal as each of the 2 split the center - he also has his pre kick routine down like Tigers pre putt routine.
Pies really benefitted by having Tark back as his disposal by hand or foot is gold card and it really showed - especially when he bounced the kick to Lica on the HB.
Three biggest benefits -
1. Maxwell holding the HB that allowed the Lonie Ranger to move to where MM wants him wing/midfielder who can kick goals,
2. Stretch improved once again, marked very well around the ground and kicked a timely goal,
3. C1 really stood up as did Cole who was superb with his pace and very fast hands. RC will be really dominant player very soon.
I am not disappointed by the margin as long as we keep on the streak.
The Dees will be tough but Neitz rarely plays well against the Pies and White will be worn down quickly by C2, Stretch and Josh.
Don't worry about % at the moment just keep the wins coming.

You are kidding right? How many young players have been lambasted on here, on other boards and also by people at the ground before they play 30-50 games? Countless. While the 'club' may not think much of their failures, the player's confidence goes down as supporters bag them. Ask Rocca and Fraser what its like dealing with shit from their own from over the fence. Took Rocca years to come to terms with it.sherrife wrote:Cam - Mmmm I don't really think the club worries what the supporters think of a player when it comes to their early development. Selling 'us' short? No, describing the facts. Criticism and impatience are the currency of supporters I'm afraid.

Cam is writing sense, people, and it's time a few of you stopped proving his sentiments correct almost every time you post.Cam wrote: How many young players have been lambasted on here...before they play 30-50 games? Countless.

[This thread is deteriorating beyond belief. It's not a post-match discussion any more. Time to start a pre-Melbourne thread and have some sensible discussion on what is looming as our biggest test of the year.]

Well firstly I don't know about other boards, so i've only got Nick's to judge from, and honestly here people generally seem to criticize players who have played for a few seasons without making an impact. I don't recall (could definitely be happening though) a player who's playing in their first season or 2 being really attacked.Cam wrote: You are kidding right? Personally, I have criticized Cole who has been in the team (2 or 3 years?) for a while and before these last two weeks had produced next-to-nothing. Sure he had potential, but if traded for an experienced player we could be one good player closer to winning a flag. Now i have no qualms about giving young players an easier ride to give them confidence but honestly, you must agree that apart from his attack on the ball, Cole showed nothing for 2 years. Still, obviously MM and the coaching staff knew he was going to come good so I guess it was a fair call.
Kinnear and Shaw are the most common people who get bagged on this board, but in these cases for very good reasons. At their absolute peak, both of these players are average contributers, always hampered by their lack of footy smarts.
Before last year (bought an 18 game membership) I had barely been to 3 matches a year so i don't really know about fans bagging our own players on the field. I do know poor Woey cops it a lot and i always try to argue with the person bagging him when they do it.
Basically, I dont think a first gamer is going to get attacked by the fans after one match... Although I'm sure you have a LOT more experience at games/with crowds than me so if you say otherwise I'll have to accept it :S
