100%. Key for our aging midfield.

Begg and Steene very much something to work with, great potential. Very nice win.

Wildcard round proved to be a bit pointless.

Pies defeated Tigers by 75 points.

Casey defeated North by 101 points.

Both Pies and Casey end up where they were at the end of the H&A.

Would have been better to play an extra H&A round and get rid of some byes.

Good call. Not a great outcome for those advocates for the wildcard round. Those huge margins only further highlight why mediocrity shouldn’t be rewarded.

Would have been worse if either team had lost, though, imo.

Am I correct in assuming we're playing Williamstown this weekend?

Williamstown is my take too. Should be a very competitive game.
I’m going early but my best guess is that McInnes will miss with a collarbone, while Carmichael will possibly miss with concussion protocols. On the plus side, Ryan could potentially be available. Not sure qualification wise, whether the club is in a position to pick Ginnivan or not ( or if they would want to )
Williamstown have been very solid, other than their last round upset loss to Sandy. They will likely continue to be without their captain and best ball winner, Cam Polson.
Hopefully we get the Sat lunchtime slot again and have the game covered free to air on 7.

I reckon it's absolutely in our interests to pick as many AFL players as can qualify for selection, so as to maximise our chances of progressing through the VFL finals series and putting game time into back-ups in case they're needed.

https://websites.mygameday.app/assoc_pa ... sID=223956

These seem to be the most relevant rules:
Players who have played with the AFL Senior team of any AFL Club after the 1st day of July in the relevant season shall be ineligible to play in the VFL Senior or VFL Reserve Grade Finals unless they have played a total of at least seven (7) Senior or Reserve VFL matches in the same season.
Notwithstanding the provisions of Rule 21, for a VFL Club(s) who do not field a VFL Reserve Grade team in the competition, AFL listed players must qualify players under Regulation 21.2 and must have played not more than 12 AFL games to be eligible to play in VFL finals matches.
Ginnivan (8 VFL matches, 11 AFL matches) and Macrae (16 VFL matches, 1 AFL match) are the only players from last week's AFL team who qualify, if I understand correctly. I'm not sure that Ash Johnson does, though, as he's played 15 games for the senior team this year. Can anyone clarify?

Brilliant news at the right time. Great to see Begg getting numbers like that. Is he bulking up at all?

Reports are that Aiden has put on 10-12 kilos this year.

He looks much stronger this season, not so much of a beanpole.
