Round 10 v Nth Ballarat

Post by Dale61 »

Saturday sees The Seagulls host The Roosters, and a win is an absolute must if Williamstown are to stay in touch with the top eight.

The reserves kick-off at 11.10 am, with the senior game commencing at 2pm.

Hi Dale,

we live out near Wantirna / Knox. What is the best way to get to the ground?

I can give directions from the West Gate, so hope you know how to get there - LOL. I usually only go as far as the Lorimer St / Docklands turn off when city bound, so after that, I have no idea.

I'll try to make it easy for you as although I live in Williamstown, I'm not 100% certain where all the streets lead to.

As you are coming over the West Gate, from the city, take the first exit (Melbourne Rd) and turn left. Follow this and you'll go over TWO rail bridges, the second has a set of lights before it.

Through the roundabout and continue down Melbourne Rd, through another roundabout, until you get to yet another roundabout. At this one there should be a chicken shop on the right. Turn right, and as soon as you cross over the rail line, turn left, before the roundabout. Follow this road all the way to the beach, then turn left again. This will get you to the ground, which you basically drive into if you didn't turn left.

Someone else may give you directions on an easier way, but this is the way I know from where I live.

I usually sit on one of the benches just inside the entry gate, so be sure to introduce yourselves. Just ask the lady (Lorraine) in the kiosk to point me out. I'll be there for the reserves game, so I'll be there early.

If you can't work out my directions, this could be a better option:
Melways ref: 56 D12 cnr Morris St and The Esplanade, Williamstown.
(Melways may show it as the Williamstown Cricket Ground.)

The reserves were boosted by the appearance of Rupert Betheras, and IMO, he was the difference. He still looks sharp and disposal was spot on. Could be a surprise inclusion to the senior team next week when Williamstown travel to Bendigo.

Final scores:
Will: 4.5.29 ~ 5.7.37 ~ 11.10.76 ~ 16.14.110
NBall: 4.2.26 ~ 10.5.65 ~ 12.7.79 ~ 14.8.92

Goals: Uhi 4, Ralph 3, Pearce 2, Ramsay 2, Smoker, Laverde, Ashton, Butler, Palmer.
(My) Best: Pearce, Betheras, Ramsay, McArdle, Uhi, Cape.
(Official) Best: Palmer Uhi McArdle Ramsay Pearce Smoker Lee.

Reports: Uhi (W'town) reported by field umpire Bromley and goal umpire Parris for striking J Edwards (Nth Ballarat) in the fourth quarter.

Seniors: Well, the less said the better. Thumped to the tune of 93 points. Not many stand-outs, but all were responsible for sloppy disposal and over-use of the ball.

Final score:
Will: 0.5.5 ~ 3.7.25 ~ 4.7.31 ~ 6.9.45
NBall: 4.3.27 ~ 11.6.72 ~ 16.13.109 ~ 20.18.138

Goals: Proctor 4, Nixon, B.Shaw.
(My) Best: West, Cranage, Mullins, B.Shaw, Walker. (These five put in for four quarters, whilst there were others that were good for a half, then went missing.)
(Official) Best: Theodore, Prestigiacomo, Procter, Shackleton, H.Shaw, Crow

(Looks like I was watching a different game)

Great pics again Dale. Isn't it good to see Rupe back in a Collingwood side. How diod Crow play? I'm very interested in his progress.

Crowy started off in the ruck, won a few contests early, but didn't seem to do much else.

From memory, Adam Butler was ko'd. He smothered a kick and was connected on the follow through.

Craig Smoker limped off late in the last quarter with what appeared to be a knee injury.

None I noticed from the senior game.

Which players are most likely to play for the pies next week?

The 22 that played Friday night. (Yes, I know Rocca is injured, but it's either him or Kinnear!)
