If we win the flag this year it will be a remarkable effort given how poorly we’ve been leading into finals.
I’m losing a little faith in a second year coach coming into a finals series with all the expectations in the world. As I said, a little. He’s risen to everything else, hope he can rise to this because aside from a few flashes, it’s been months since we’ve played 4 qtrs.
The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after.

Fact is lions are our bogey team and we’ve lost last 6 against them. Even if we were to make the gf no way we can beat them, we have no answers to beat their structures or match ups. Charlie has kicked 17.1 in last 4 against us. Our record is 15-23 which is our worst record against any club in our history. Unfortunately think 2023 could be yet another wasted year..

Did not expect to win this game, with Brisbane at full strength and us with three elite stars out, and Bobby Hill as well.
I am happy game was at Marvel, so they don't get to practise strategies against us at the G, but Marvel gave them yet another advantage over us in this game.
Last quarter was disappointing... we seem to have lost our last quarter energy over the last few weeks.
This is concerning.
Midfield is also concerning, but still we must remember that they had their best midfield complement out there, while we had JDG missing.
Easy to say in retrospect, but i wish we had tried out McInnes tonight in the midfield.
Loss tonight will not drastically reduce our percentage, and we will no doubt hold on to top 2.
But lots of work to do for us to challenge for the flag.
Mental toughness is there. Personnel and achievement of physical peak condition are the decisive factors.
Free Julian Assange!!

Yep, a crisis. We have a midfield that can’t match it with the best teams and can’t even match it with the worst teams.

For the first final Ins from tonight:

De Goey- our best mid
Moore- our best defender
Hill... our quickest forward

For the second week of finals

Nick Daicos in.

I would seriously consider leaving out Adams and playing McInnes
We need some speed in the midfield and we cannot have all of:
Mitchell, Adams, Pendlebury, Lipinski, Sidebottom in there.

I would have Sidey as the sub- he cannot be left out of the 23.

Lipinski and Josh Daicos to be the wingers.

I accept the loss tonight- we were never going to overcome the loss of four stellar players against a side that had absolutely everything on the line.

Would be very comfortable playing Brisbane in the Grand Final with our full team.

And this in a nutshell is the problem.
It goes back past 2018 GF.
It is the midfield stupid!!!!!
As Warburton lad said we cannot play those 5 players together.

Pendlebury carried Collingwood tonight. 31 disposals, 12 clearances, a goal, 2 goal assists and 517 metres gained. The only reason he might not get the 3 Brownlow votes is because Collingwood were well-beaten. You need to distinguish between Neale looking good because he's surrounded by talent and Pendlebury having to do everything the hard way, on his own.

Agreed with the bolded, but its very late in the season to pull such a move

If you get beat in the midfield,
and free kicks wont go your way,
Just put Cox in the ruck ya,
Clearances flow ya way

What else is new? Directive from AFL, get their pet team as high as possible, **** the pies, tai our money and screw us, last week proved it. Ginnie took a mark, Jamie got smashed after he marked no 50, the deliberate was bullshit, blocking? Bad luck

Considering how easily they kicked field goals and our huge outs I’m Surprised it wasn’t a bigger margin

Smash the drugsters next week and then we take it all
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!
