Home ground advantage to Port.

Even tho we finished minor premiers.

in which it should be played at Vic Park then.

Bazzar.

But Ikon park would have been perfect and would have got bums on seats at least.

"Embrace the opportunity.

That’s what it is all about for Collingwood as it attempts to follow in Darebin’s footsteps and become a two-time rebel VFLW premier.

The opportunity presents itself on Sunday when the Magpies take on Port Melbourne at ETU Stadium in the 2023 rebel VFLW Grand Final.

Collingwood has been one of the most successful teams across the VFLW since joining in 2017, boasting 61 wins and a draw from their 81 matches.

They won the 2019 flag in powerful style and were set to enter the 2021 decider as favourite, however the match was forced to be abandoned due to Covid lockdown."

"Port Melbourne is bidding to add a new chapter to a storied history that dates back more than 140 years and 17 VFL/VFA premierships.

In just their third rebel VFLW campaign, the Borough will play off in the 2023 rebel VFLW Grand Final, where they will face league powerhouse Collingwood at ETU Stadium.

Speaking to State of Play: VFL/W Podcast ahead of Sunday’s premiership decider, Port Melbourne coach Sean Buncle said the club was confident of success if they bring their A-game."

This game will come down to whoever settles first and takes their opportunites.

Port have the home ground advantage and after a tight first quarter, kept the Bombers goaless for much of the Prelim final. They have some quick runners and if they get their quick ball movement going, the Pies will be in trouble (Pies are succeptable to teams with quick transition).

After looking at one stage they could miss the finals, the Pies got their act together in the last couple of rounds and finals. Almost certain VFLW season MVP Jess Bates will be a key for the Pies. Her stoppage work this season has been awesome, so the Pies need to bring their A grade tackling game.

2023 has been such a close season, this game is tough to call with no obvious favorite. I'm hoping for a couple of goal win.

GO PIES!

Port 5.5.35 defeated Pies 3.5.23

Goals: Nikolitsis 2, Sargent

Top disposals: Bates 27, Zander 19, Nikolitsis 15

Port lead at every change and adapted to the conditions better than the Pies. Quite a few kicks down the line being pushed wide by the wind.

After a slow start the Pies got themselves back into the game in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. In the last they were not able to get many forward entries or capitilise on the wind that appeared to be favouring the city end (walking on the graound after the game the wind was more across the ground). Pies upped the tackle pressure but Port benefited from some free kicks in the half forward area which stopped the Pies transistion out of defense.

Port were the better team over the course of the game. More marks, quicker and ground ball work was a bit cleaner. 30 more tackles than the Pies (in previous games the Pies have laid 100+ tackles).

A good crowd at the game with both teams evenly supported.

i think Pies did well in the GF.

Was 23 to 6 early in quater 2 and came back and lead at times and made a match out of it.

Leading 10 mins left had the ball in our forward 50 but went up the other end for the next 5 mins.

Could not then get it past the centre circle.

Good pressure from the pies to limit ports scoring but the ball was in ports half not pies half.

Pies played better then port and had better use of the ball generally port got lucky with umpiring and its was like the umpires were playing for port.
i think the pies go one better next year take the whole thing out.

GF venue to be Vic Park.
