Can i ask why you think Presti will be back in the team??? There is no one for him to negate! If MM is consistent with his "horses for courses" there really is no way that Presti will be able to slot in the team. He may still be called up for a few matches where our defense will be stretched, but I think his time may nearly be up...

He has given us a few years of awesome service, but is too unversatile to have a permanent place in our squad.

Guys, Presti is a lynch pin, he has his knockers but he does a good job. Why bring him back into the side? Well McDougall, Seaby, Staker and Cox are all likely to play forward at one time or another, with Cox likely to be the ruckman for the majority of the game with Seaby relieving and doing forward half duties.

Seaby is 200cm and weighs in at 95kg
Cox is 204cm and weighs in at 104kg
McDougall is 197cm and weighs in at 93kg
Staker is 196cm and weighs in at 89kg

That said, Presti is the tallest defender on our list, also equally as heavy as any others

Presti is 193cm and weighs in at 95kg
J.Cloke is 189cm and weighs in at 95kg
Jimmy is 190cm and weighs in at 95kg
Shags is 191cm and weighs in at 94kg
Agent 86 is 190cm and weighs in at 85kg

Now, not having a go, but wouldn't it be logical to have Presti on Cox or Seaby when they are resting in the pocket, as they will, because we'd have to assume Jimmy will go with Matera and Cole likely to get Sampi. That leaves Chambers, Staker, McDougall and the resting ruckmen in their forward 50. (on the proviso we don't go with the one on ones i nominated earlier) Chambers is a good match up for a Lonie or Johnson, Staker can be covered by C1, Shags likely to get McDougall. There is a right match up for Presti this week and considering that neither Seaby nor Cox are blistering speed he has the weight, height and ability to match them. Maxwell, no offence to the kid, I have been rapt with his past two games in the seniors and his ability to come along in the past 18 months, but he's too light on in terms of weight and height to play against one of these blokes. Hence my justification.....and big men don't get any smaller as they day gets longer.

Only thing to remember is Presti's form was terrible early this season after an interrupted pre-season. He really needs to be at full fitness to be effective.

Give him at least one week, if not two full games with the Gulls to just get back into the pace of the game. The backline has been good the last few weeks and in all seriousness those four talls you just named aren't really that much Nath, so I have confidence in our slightly shorter players to account for them. Its Matera and Sampi that will be the worries. Maxwell also deserves more game time, I like the look of him.

d9, I'm completely with you. Maxwell looks great, he deserves another run, but I think Presti is the better option. Look his pre season might have been hampering him, but players seem to play bigger around him. He is a damn good defender, lets all just say that, and although beaten on occassion, its rare that he gets completely towelled.

That said, the guys I mentioned are just as dangerous as anyone else. Sampi and Matera in any other team are crumbing forwards, and crumbing forwards get their goals from big guys crasghing packs and I guarantee that the four big guys mentioned earlier will be instructed that if they can't mark that ball, then to put it on the deck and let the best small forward in the league (Matera) and Sampi do what they do best.

Presti should not come back just yet, he needs to regain fitness in the VFL.

My suggested lineup:

B: Cole, Wakelin, Lokan
HB: Lonie, Clement, Johhno
C: Lockyer, McGough, Woewodin
HF: Didak, Rocca, Fraser
F: C. Cloke, Tarrant, Swan
Foll: Richards, Licuria, Burns

Inter: Davis, Shaw, J.Cloke, Maxwell

Emer: Presti, Nixon, Mullins

Fair call Nath, I'm not sure if you were referring to me as a Presti knocker, but i'm faarrr from that. Firstly, I didn't have any real knowledge of the West Coast forward line so it was a fairly hasty comment from me to say he doesn't have a place this week.

However, i do believe that Wakelin is a better option then Presti for Seaby or Cox, whichever is in the forward line at the time. What he lacks in height he more than makes up for in strength and experience. Furthermore, Wakes provides rebound from defense and has the speed to follow a leading player.

Presti has shown that when he is fully fit, he can keep up with the slower forwards in the competition, when he is unfit (all this year) he has been getting completely towelled up. If we are taking the "youngsters" thing seroiusly, we should be playing Maxwell all year to get him some experience.

Presti can be used when neccessary ie. against Neitz, but young Maxwell's development should be put ahead of Presti trying to regain form. Basically, if Presti earns his spot in Williamstown, put him in, but do not give him priority over a youngster on past performances alone.

Balmey mentioned the other day that Presti would probably play with Williamstown again this week. I think the team will be unchanged now that Licuria is free to play. Bucks should probably be given an extra week even if he his fit, because we have a 10 day break between this game and the Melbourne game.

Sherrife, not calling you a Presti knocker at all mate, I read your posts with interest 90% of the time and can see that you put a great deal of thought into what you're saying. No knock on you, just the many that have come before you in the realms of the 'Lets Sledge Our Own'
