East Burwood's Karl Worner to Debut for Freo

Post by Culprit »

Super excited to see him debut this weekend. A few clubs looked at him and he was eventually Rookied by Freo. After 2 years of hard work playing at Peel Thunder, he gets his time. He has younger brothers that can play as well. The family struggled with him moving to WA but Freo has been really good with the family. The club let him break the news to the family and flew the family over to get to see him play.

The bonus is I hopefully get to see another Carlton loss.

He now goes on the East Burwood FC wall and joins an elite list that has been drafted into the AFL:
Jordan Ridley (Ess)
Robbie Gray (PA)
Josh Gibson (Hawthorn)
Andrew Carrazo (Carlton)
Blake Grima (North Melb)
Brad Fisher (Carlton)
Trent Hotton (Carlton)
Brett Rose (Sydney)
Adam White (Carlton)

Prior to the Draft System:
Adam Slater (Richmond)
Alan Richardson (Collingwood)
Greg Miller (Richmond/South Melbourne)
Ken Philips (South Melbourne)
Bradley Ross (Richmond)
Graeme Jacobs (South Melbourne)

Yep, good friends with Dad, Pixie. In saying that East Burwood is a family club, everyone knows everyone.

I presume that this is the same Trent Hotton who played for Collingwood?
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm ☔️

Yep, but he was drafted by them. He's a Premiership player at East Burwood under Alan Richardson.

This is great stuff and what clubs need to do to keep their interstate recruits.
Will be watching with interest now also.
Forecast is for some showers, we've had heaps of rain and the deck will be slippery... that's why I've tipped against freo.

Started as Sub and came on when the game was well and truly over. Got a few possessions but it was annoying he was loose many times on the wing when they got possessions and they simply ignored him. Interesting if he gets a run next week as many in that team shouldn't get a run. They were woeful and made the Blues look like superstars.

Nice, I only got 8. After 5 minutes I knew Freo was toast.

Do you mean he played at East Burwood in 97-99? :?:

'Cos he played for us first (94-96), Carlton later (00-02).

He played in the 99 East Burwood Premiership. He was then picked up by Carlton after a very dominant year in the EFL Now if that's the case it was Collingwood that drafted him first as the draft started way before that. I always thought it was Carlton. I shall advise the club to amend their info.

There's the Premiership Photo with Trent in it.

I have emailed the EB and advised them to update their info.

Oh, good! Feels like I've contributed something to EB.

Here's a Collingwood Hotton story. President Al M. is at Pie HQ speaking with someone seated. Al is standing, so he's bent over to get down to the other fella's level. Hotton sees his chance. He runs up and takes a huge imaginary speccie over Al's back, complete with commentary ("Hotton!!!").

He joined 2010 as captain. Premiership in 2012 after we merged with the defunct East Malvern F.C.
