Collingwood Netball

Collingwood did offer free netball memberships to football members. Perhaps only certain membership categories were offered free memberships but they also offered free tickets.90 nice wrote: Helped that they offered me a free membership not like Collingwood netball has ever done.
Collingwood marketed it poorly though and timing clashes with the football were a poor decision too.

The clashes with the footy were the fault of the bad scheduling of games by SSN. The only good thing they did with scheduling this season was move Saturday games to 5pm & 7pm so that people playing netball on Saturdays could try and get to games.
Reports that Geoff Lord is insterested in setting up a team. He set up the Melb Victory when the A League was established. The different here is that there is already a Melbourne team and trying to get full support from Netball Vic when they already have a favorite child will be a challenge. I remember the old days of the Phoenix & Kestrels and the Kestrels were always considered the poor cousins of the Phoenix.
I am a big supporter of womens sport but the reality is that they do not get enough people on board watching or supporting. The WNBL (national womens basketball league) is also in trouble with one privately owned team up for sale and others reportred to be in financial trouble.
The one thing this saga has done has got people talking about netball. Reading a lot of the comments on social media though half of them don't know anything about netball or ever been to or watched a SSN game, just like Caroline Wilson.

Having no money and piss poor scheduling what were they thinking was the demise of collingwood.
Netball aust also did not give an inch or absolute anything or helped collingwood either.
Methinks teams like the Giants could be in the same situation.
Its a shame that the great game of netball has come to this.
I think suncorp never really gave much in the way of cash either.
Time for the game to go back to grass roots and start again properly.
And knocking back Ginas cash did not help at all.

Collingwood magpies won their last ever game at the Silverdome v Fever 68-65
A fairytale finish and was far and away our best game this season.
Pies lead at every change and stormed home in the last quarter.
All round solid team performance.
Now this is the end.
Players are having a team holiday in Tasmania.
And return home a 2 weeks time.
Alot of thier careers up in the air as well.
but for now Collingwood went out winners.

Pies lead by 1 goal at qtr time against the Fever.
Score were level at half time.
Pies lead by 7 at 3 qtr time and withstood a late Fever charge to win by 3 goals.
Everyone has returned home to Melbourne with Geva, Sophie and Ash now preparing for the netball cup in South Africa - Geva withe the Roses, Ash and Sophie with the Diamonds.
Ash has retired from domestic netball and word is Geva may return home to England.

yes Ash is now retired form all netball and even aflw.
She intends on going back to WA to live closer to family.
Geves back home to the UK.
But there are a few players that are not in the Aust team that are taking a well earnt break and a holiday be that in tassie or somewhere else.
Then its back to Melbourne to sort themselves out with thier next careers.
I wish them well.
Me thinks a few of them will stick around in the SSN but i feel some will might want out and choose something else. And guess what i dont blame them they have been through the ringer.
