Quarter time:

Giants 4.1.25 lead Pies 1.3.9

Goal: Jacob Booth (in the team in place of McInnes)

This is going to be a hard slog against a Giants team stacked with AFL listed players (Davis, Riccardi, Keeffe)

Getting beaten in the hitouts but clearances and inside 50s are even.

Half time Pies 10 5 65 vs Giants 6 3 39.
I’m not physically watching the game, so it’s hard to comment but obviously Carmichael has continued his great form with 19 touches and 2 goals up until half time.
Obviously a free flowing game with so much scoring in the second quarter. Draper, MacRae and Bianco have all been prominent, while Murley and Harrison have also both hit the scoreboard with two goals each. Krueger is playing, which is almost a bonus in itself. In typical Begg fashion he continues to be beaten in the ruck contests but at least he’s finding a bit of the ball around the ground.

Final scores Giants 17 11 113 defeated Pies 17 9 111
Giants kicked the first five goals of the last quarter before Carmichael put us back in front at the 29min mark with his fourth goal. Giants answered from a set shot virtually on the siren and we were nutted by 2 points.
Harrison and Murley kicked three each, while Draper showed a bit in the midfield with 23 touches. Carmichael ( very quiet last quarter ) MacRae, Bianco ( at half back ) and Harrison were also amongst the Collingwood listed players highest possession winners.
Ruck is a real problem for us. Whether it’s Steene ( didn’t play today ) or Begg, they continue to be belted at centre bounces and stoppages.

^ Haven't really had a capable ruckman at the Club since Len Thompson went to South.

I only saw the second half, Begg tried hard and did some good things but was physically monstered by the GWS bloke who looked to have height and 20+kg on Begg.

We gave away a couple of good ones in Witts and possibly Ceglar.
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm ☔️
