Best of luck with it David. It's not a publication that is in my zone but hopefully there's enough people who are to keep it on deck.

Good luck, you are doing what is tantamount to pushing shit uphill.

Hard to see any print media surviving the decade, and more likely even earlier.

It's soft and we'll see a huge increase in crime by 10-14 year old.

The only prophet here is that kid, if he managed to make a decision to commit a crime because of a legal change that isn't going to be enacted for another four years, and in a different state no less.

(Of course, could be going out on a limb here, but I think it's even possible that most 13-year-olds aren't hugely aware of the finer points of criminal sentencing?)

The average 13 year old has very little understanding of consequences of actions. They're more impulse driven and long term planning would be what to do tomorrow.

Correct!

Hang the girl, and her mum,

but that boy didn’t know what he was doing and was misunderstood and his parents are all good!

It's interesting how differently the NRL handled a 12-13 yr old racially abusing a player just earlier this year.

The player in question didn't demonise the child, didn't carry on with "racism has a face and it's a 13 yer old", but made statements to the effect that he didn't blame the child, he'd like to meet him to understand what in his upbringing made him think that was OK and offered an invitation to attend training and meet with all the Indigenous players and hear their stories.

Classy and the NRL aren't often terms that go together, but in this case they did.

^ Goodes basically said the same thing. Unfortunately everyone seized on that one line and made it sound like he was blaming her.

Again, this is a completely imaginary double standard. Read your own posts in this thread (and that of so many other posters in the Goodes thread/s at the time).

It's like the people with massive media followings and power who go on air to complain that 'nobody is allowed to say' the thing they just said on live TV or radio.

My thought on goodes haven’t changed, regardless if you believe she knew it was a racist term, the crap the girl received was over the top. I wondered how she has fared? That’s not to say racism is ok, for the people at the back, it’s not, but it’s a shame he didn’t call outa big bully bloke.

And that’s not why he was booed, he was booed because he was a stager on field,

The thirteen year old driver did an adult crime, I don’t care where his head was at in development times, he killed three people. Certainly he should never be back in his parents custody. This is happening far too frequently. A stand needs to be made.

Gee I wonder what will happen once 11-13 year olds know they can commit murder and robbery with impunity.

Or 9 and 10 year olds, for that matter. The primary school kids’ reign of terror will have begun!
