How many homes have you had?

Post by stui magpie »

Another way to ask is, how many different places have you lived in? How many different addreses have you had?

I was talking to a young woman the other day and said I'd been living in my house for more than 30 years and she was shocked, as she moves around a lot. So it got me thinking, I've only lived in 4 different homes in 57 years.

Family home in Toc where I grew up
Flat where I lived when first moved to Melbourne
Then the house I moved to in Camberwell
Finally where I currently live.

That's really not many.

For the purposes of the exercise, you can't count holiday homes or investment properties cos while you may visit them, you don't live there. As an adult, your home would be your address on your drivers licence.

If you spent 12 months travelling around Australia in a caravan as a kid, the caravan was your home for that period, not each caravan you stayed at.

If you went to boarding school for a period, that counts as a home as you lived there, as do share houses and any other arrangement.

So who's lived in the most? Surely most of you can beat 4 if you're older than 30.

Mum is still in the house I grew up in, she’s been there 40 years now.

I’ve lived in 6 different houses in 4 different towns with 5 in the last 5 years, not really settling down

Oh wow,what a page!

I don’t remember a grandstand, and there us a map showing the new hostel in 1970, we must have been amongst the first residents (inmates??!) we arrived in November 1970, after the Westgate fell down. The pic of the buildings from the car park with one car is how I remember it, but I’m sure the food hall was the same or similar.

The curved sheds were gone, I didn’t see them.

Looking at the footy teams, oh my god, I know so many of them! In fact our own Pa Marmo is listed in a prelim team!

Thanks for the link, wow just wow!
