Not into the dish lickers at all... if I do bet on them it's always the black and white stripes of the 2 dog.

I just got my monthly betting statement, another month in the black.
It shows me well up over the last 6 months... the weekend just gone was a disaster though.

Was thinking at least they don't die in accidents. But need to check behind the scenes...

Unlike the horses. (e.g. Florescent Star, I'm Thunderstruck,...)

Fan favourite I'm Thunderstruck euthanised after accident

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/racing/ ... 5cwv2.html

'Tragedy has struck for the connections of Cox Plate runner-up I’m Thunderstruck after their much-loved horse had to be euthanised after sustaining injuries in a post-surgery accident.

On Thursday, the five-year-old gelding had a routine knee chip operation in Bayles...

But managing owner Terry Henderson said when the horse woke up, he injured himself further, suffering catastrophic injuries which forced experienced equine surgeon John Russell to euthanise the horse.
...

“Hundreds of times and, in fact, after the operation it appeared everything was OK, but clearly the horse must have got up and put weight in such a manner that caused multiple fractures in the knee and as a result of that, John Russell had no choice but to put the horse down.”'

Race 5 #1.
He has been working really well since his first blow out a fortnight ago, should be a lot closer this run.

Velorum goes around tomorrow at Ipswich in the last.

It's been really hard to find a suitable race for him, we don't want him carrying too much weight, but with a rating of 66 that limits the fields we can put him in. Will carry 54kg with a 3 kg claiming apprentice in a BM70 race, but has drawn a wide gate, which is a big disadvantage on the tight circuit.

He needs the run, so will be sending him around anyway. Looks like he's going to be the sort of horse who takes a bit of time to reach his peak. Will be happy if he finishes in the first half of the field. Will be at big odds. I'll have a couple of bucks each way.

Poor fella bled from both nostrils. He's banned for 3 months and has to jump some hoops to be able to race again.
We decided to retire him.
That's it for me, no more racehorse ventures.

Skids, what proportion of your sports/racing betting is racing?

Cos... minimum bet laws cover racing but not sports. So the bookies can't do much to stop skilled racing punters. I reckon everyone should push for the same laws for sports betting.

Probably more sports betting of late. AFL and cricket mostly.

I haven't had a great run the past few months and have dropped my punting right back. I do a quaddie on the Perth races and that's about it.

I won on Richmond/Martin 20+ disposals/Martin a goal last night. Dusty didn't get the goal until the last minute.
Had a Nana bet on Marsh to be the leading run scorer in our first innings last night... always the way, drop the bet value and you win

I tallied my net return from my past 30-ish races (a few bets per race) and it came to a loss of about 3.5%-4%.

So that was demotivating! :!:
