Fraser and Burns should be back, which will be good. I'm not sure about Presti, but hopefully he will return. However, he was already low on match fitness, so I'm sure the layoff can't have been too good for him.

Anyway the team might look something like this:

B: Cole, Wakelin, J.Cloke
HB: Lonie, Clement, Johnno
C: Lica, Woey, O'Bree
HF: Lokan, Rocca, Fraser
F: Didak, Tarrant, L.Davis
Foll: Richards, Burns, McGough
Inter: Maxwell, C.Cloke, Swan, Walker

Emer: R.Shaw, King, Mullins

...and is Presti plays, he would slot in there somwhere. Maxwell would probably make way, although I want to see this kid played, he looked promising last week.

Yep, just announced on SEN.

Presti won't be playing, but Fraser, Burns, and Lockyer will be back.

So the side might be this:

B: Cole, Wakelin, J.Cloke
HB: Lonie, Clement, Johnno
C: Lica, Woey, Lockyer (Geez it is good to write his name there).
HF: Lokan, Rocca, Fraser
F: Didak, Tarrant, L.Davis
Foll: Richards, Burns, McGough
Inter: Maxwell, C.Cloke, Swan, O.Bree

Emer: R.Shaw, King, Mullins

I hope he doesn't play - he needs 100% confidence, and in almost one full game at Willi, no matter how good, I don't reckon he could get it. Having said that, if he plays, off the bench obviously, good luck to him, no one deserves it more!

If Locks plays I hope Burns is 100% certainly fit, and can play 120 minutes, or our bench is looking thin. Having said that, those are three huge inclusions!

Tarks will probably start on the bench (even though I named him in the centre in my team), or in the forward line. Having said that, I don't think he is a confidence player, and will be right from the word go.

This week's selection should tell us a lot about the club's intentions for the rest of the year.

If the club is focussed mainly on development, then Presti will be an emergency and Walker will be played. Burns and Fraser will replace Davis and Swan neither of whom has done much in the last couple of weeks. This would leave the newbies and Shaw in as a development project. Under this scenario, as Buckly, Lockyer and Holland return (barring any new injuries), they would replace out of form established players. Newbies would be rotated with newbies rather than replaced by established players.

If the club's intention is to go for the finals, then it will try to stabilize on its best potential short term team as quickly as possible. This would mean that Presti would replace Walker, and Burns and Fraser would replace Mullins and Shaw (since on last week's showing, Maxwell is ahead of Mullins and Shaw in Collingwood's best potential team). Under this scenario, as Buckly, Lockyer and Holland return (barring any new injuries), they would replace Mullins, Maxwell and then the least in form established player. Newbies would then come in only in case of new injuries or spectacular form eg. Morrison kicking 10 goals.

Barring any lapses, I suspect Richards, C.Cloke and McGough have cemented their spots under either of these scenarios.
Beware the embrace of the collingwood python

If Fraser is back, then I suspect Walker will be dropped for him otherwise we get a bit too top heavy.

For Lockyer, I guess Swan would be dropped as he didn't get a lot of game time last week and it would be better for him to get a full run at Willi, than sit on the bench again for much of the day.

And if Burns is picked, then Rhyce Shaw will go back to Willi.

I'm just back in after popping out for my usual arvo coffee and read of mx. And have read about the three changes. How come MM can announce these changes on a bloody radio show on a Thursday morning but none of the mainstream newspapers, AFL or CFC websites mention anything about team selections yet? Dean Laidley said a week or so ago that he'd actually made North's team selection for their game against Port on the previous Monday. It smells awfully like the clubs are having a right old lend of us. Don't they think us fans are worth treating with respect? If the old routine of team selection after Thursday night training is passe, then the clubs should announce the teams as soon as they are chosen. I don't like being treated like a mug, MM.
