Yeah, no luck with the races this week.

I like P.Harvey on All The Kings Men (3/1) in the listed Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic.
Theres also Kostas Crown (30/1)... Has to be a sneaky place chance.

There's only 3 runners under $10 in The Winterbottom; ...

I do like all of them but I'll be backing The Astrologist (W.Pike) at $13.

ATKM finished 2nd, behind the favourite. KC was 5th IIRC.

TA didn't fire... 9th?

Last week I had a nibble on a race at Kempton (UK). Only 3 runners. Only when I started watching did I realize this was a jumps race.
Huh?! Shouldn't the bookies make this clearer??

I see it says: "Kempton Park Racecourse in the town of Sunbury-on-Thames in the English county of Middlesex. The track is run by The Jockey Club, which operates both thoroughbred and jumps racing."

Had a few nibbles on Sandown and Randwick races. Lured by the bookies' specials (odds & bonus bets). Went okay...

Any action for you, Skids?

Hey K.

Nothing to get excited about. February finished in the red, would've been a different story had I not filled out a ticket incorrectly which resulted in missing out on a $2400 collect.

Mates horse, Dream To Me, continues to impress. She's won 5 from 8 now with 2 2nds. The boys collecting over $100k in prize money and about the same on the punt in the last 6 months.

My big fella, Velorum, is going around in heat 11 of the Toowoomba trials this morning. Very excited about this bloke. 1st start for us is pencilled in for the 1st of April at Doomben.

Jockey injuries

"Jockeys Jamie Kah and Craig Williams were rushed to hospital on Saturday after being in a high-speed fall at Flemington, the second in as many weeks at the racecourse, causing a delay to the Super Saturday race meeting.
...

Williams (Dubenenko) has a suspected broken collarbone, while Kah (Flyball) was initially in and out of consciousness after suffering a severe head knock, but was responsive when attended to by on-course medical staff, after both were dislodged from their horses.

Both Flyball and Dubenenko returned to the scale, with Dubenenko returning with minor lacerations on both forelimbs. Flyball escaped with minor abrasions.
...

The event was headlined by the Newmarket Handicap, won by Godolphin filly In Secret, who was due to be ridden by Kah. Dean Holland picked up the ride to claim just his second group 1 race, one of the few available jockeys for the 51.5kg ride.
...

The fall came just seven days after Ethan Brown fell from his mount in the feature event at Flemington, the Australian Guineas. He has had multiple surgeries this week to overcome internal injuries.

Brown remains in intensive care..."

Injured jockey Brown to be interviewed by stewards, Kah awake following fall

'Kah and Craig Williams were both thrown off their horses in the Sires’ Produce Stakes on Saturday...

Kah was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with a serious concussion, and had been heavily sedated to allow her brain to rest. ...

Williams, who was discharged from the Alfred Hospital on Sunday night, will have surgery on a fractured clavicle on Tuesday at the Epworth Hospital. Williams also broke two ribs and fractured a finger in the fall.
...

“There’s no evidence that riders are riding more tight than they have in the past. The two inquires are still open, we haven’t concluded them.

“Preliminary evidence in the Jamie Kah fall is that she clipped heels near the 1000 metres. But we’re still inquiring into that, when Jamie’s available, and we’ll conclude the inquiry into the Guineas fall, hopefully later this week.”
...

“This subject matter has been discussed as long as I’ve been a steward. From time to time in our races, we prefer if there is more tempo. Certainly tempo is related to interference when pace is slowed too much, but we think our racing is good, it’s been good for some time now. I think racing in Victoria is as safe as anywhere around the world.”'

I see it...

Alice Springs R2

3. Yowza (1)
W: 59.5kg
F: 24520x
J: Phillip Crich
T: D Leech

No odds listed yet... "MD". Huh? Another thing I don't know. (Dunno what "F:***x" means either.)

BTW, does TAB often offer promotions (boosted odds, bet returns, matching deposits, etc.)? :?:

I took $3.90 for Yowza.

x - means the horse has had a spell of 3 months or more.
MD - means mid divy - I'm guessing you're on SB or Ladbrokes? If you back the tote with them they usually pay top divvy (the highest of the 3 main agencies) but in some 'lesser' events, they pay MD, the divvy in the middle of the 3.

Had a great day on the punt yesterday and just need GWS to beat Adelaide for a healthy multi collect today. Using the money I won on JDG to kick 3/pies win double at 10/1.

Bidaya is one I like at Geraldton today in race 6, paying $5.50.

I had a dream a few months ago about a horse race.
I saw the number 18 fly home and win at big odds, I couldn't make out if the other horses in the first 4 were; 2 or 12, 4 or 14 and I thought I saw a 6 in there too.

Number 18 is a rare number, there's not usually that many starters so I've been keeping an eye out ever since the dream.
Yesterday at Doomben in race 4 there was a number 18, Stormy Rock @ 30/1. I had 10 x 10 on it and did a first 4.

$10 for 5.2%

1st - 18
2nd - 2, 4, 14, 20 & 23 ( there was no 6,12 or 16)
3rd - S2
4th - FD

Well what do you know, 18 flys home and wins, it's a photo all round for 2nd, 3rd & 4th.
Numbers come up - 18, 2, 4 & 1.... first 4 pays $22,000... happy days!

They do. Not as extensive as what the others do.

I mainly bet with the TAB these days. WA government owned so they support local racing etc, where as, the corporates funnel money offshore. Nobody gives me 'bonus' bets anymore.

Thanks for the info.

I think I got $4-ish for Yowza. I saw that sb & lb had identical odds for the whole field. For outback races, they must get their odds made by the same source.

Yowza missed out. IIRC 6th? Ah, looks like they've given it =6th with Hard Work Rewards. Dunno if they make any effort to split them when they're not placing.

Co-favourite Brat won.

Velorum has his first run for us tomorrow night at Toowoomba.
Race 4 Number 1. A Class 4 over 1000m.

He's probably a tad underdone (why we chose this race instead of the Class 3 @ Doomben) due to the trials being cancelled last week. It does look like a pretty weak Class 4 and he is definitely a chance to be in the finish.

No prices out yet. I'm guessing he'll be around the 4/1 price.

The boys horse, Dream to Me is due to run in Race 5 at Ascot tomorrow... 30mm of rain overnight, with more forecast, may change that plan. I'm not sure how she goes in the wet. She has only had the one start on a rain affected track and that was early on in her career, it's the only time she hasn't run a place.
She's 9/2 at the minute.

Yowza goes around in the last at the Alice on Saturday.

I had a good betting run for a while :), but now I'm in a bad run... :(

Also experimented with the greyhounds. Didn't end well!! Seems more chaotic compared with the horses. If the dog misses the start, it's hard to make it up.

For both horses and greyhounds, looks like the punters hang out for scratchings and then bet on the runners outside the scratched gate.

Do ya reckon that's a good idea? :?: Gives them a clearer run...
