Disappointing game for the Pies.

Final score Port Melb 9.3.57 defeated Pies 2.8.20

https://www.afl.com.au/news/896834/revi ... lw-round-2

"Port did most of its damage off half-back, winning easily despite losing clearances 37-21, trailing the inside-50 count 41-22 and having 19 fewer disposals"

Jess Bates was the Pies best with 31 possessions, nine tackles, 11 clearances and seven inside-50s.

Round 3

Pies vs Casey Demons

Friday 7 April @ 12.00pm. Venue Casey Fields.

Match centre:

https://www.afl.com.au/vflw/matches/5290

Ladder:
Pies - 8th (1 win, 1 loss, 68.6%) Casey - 1st, (2 wins, 477.8%)

This will be a very tough game for the Pies.
Casey Fields is one of the worst places to play on a wet & windy day and the Demons can be a high scoring team. Need to make the most of our shots on goal but expect a Demons win.

Team selection:

B: R. Busch 67, S. Karlson 20
HB: R. Christgoergl 56, E. Fowler 15, A. Weston 58
C: E. Jackson 65, J. Bates 50, S. Hosking 47
HF: E. Shepherd 49, E. Morris 21, C. Van der Vlies 69
F: M. DeMatteo 44, J. Tweddle O'Donnell 60
R: S. King 46, I. Evans 5, C. Bunker 55
INT: N. Dojiok 61, R. Caris 68, M. Zander 51, M. Jarvis 48, A. Whiley 43

EMG: E. Southgate 53, T. Hurst 45, T. Cowan 54

IN: R. Busch, S. Karlson, E. Morris, E. Shepherd, A. Weston
OUT: N. Hales, N. Weston (injured), T. Cowan, T. Hurst, A. Porter

Some experts think we are like what happen in the AFL like the fire sale to holly grail kind of team.

We are the surprise packet in the vflw in 2023.

We can beat hawks at box hill as well.

For me in going to see Port Melb play on saturday morning at port melbourne they play the dogs.

Disapointing game for the Pies today.

Bombers 4.7.31 defeated Pies 2.3.15

Goals: Tweddle-O'Donnell, Morris

Top disposals: Jess Bates 27, Liz Jackson 21, Matilda Zander & Eleri Morris 19.

Pies were outrun and outworked at ground level for most of the game.
TBH the final margin should have been larger and flattered the Pies.

Won the centre clearances but inside 50s were a whopping 47 to 12 in favour of the Bombers. The Pies defence were under siege for large parts of the game but were able to repel the Bombers inside 50s but the Pies couldn't capitalise on their work, with poor delivery and decisions making it easy for the Bombers to rebound at half forward.

Jess Bates (again), Liz Jackson & Eleri Morris were the best over the four quarters.

Round 5 review:

https://www.afl.com.au/news/911773/revi ... lw-round-5

Coaches votes:

8 Eleri Morris (COL)
5 Amelia Radford (ESS)
5 Stephanie Wales (ESS)
3 Jess Bates (COL)
3 Amber Clarke (ESS)
2 Georgia Clarke (ESS)
2 Sophie Molan (ESS)
1 Elizabeth Jackson (COL)
1 Megan Ryan (ESS)
